XMPlay is a skinnable audio player that plays all major audio formats and includes gapless playback, effects, equalizer, net streaming. More features are available using plugins, including visualizations, more format support, cover art and more. Note that the library and playlist will not work as you change PCs.

Can play MP3, WMA, M4A, OGG and more, as well as output to WAV, MP3 OGG etc. (via external encoders).

Alternatively, XMPlay is natively portable but does not automatically adjust library and playlist paths: download the ZIP package, extract to a folder of your choice and launch xmplay.exe.
Also, you can always download the "Latest stuff" version.

I used to use WinAmp (over the years became bloated and tool forever to load), then tried Cool Player (good, but not enough features for me). XM Player is the perfect balance - super fast, reliable (so far), flexible, and customizable. J.U.S.T. Perfect!

@smaragdus Thanks. I downloaded it. BTW, XMPlay archives older versions here: https://support.xmplay.com/files.php?id=20

The problem seems to be related to plugins. It's working now. See post at un4seen forums here:

smargadus - To clarify, I use Euphoria exclusively in mini mode :)

TP109 - Instead of using the older version, you should report the bug on the un4seen.com forums.

@freakazoid
Euphoria is a nice skin but since it looks too much like AIMP I use Neutron skin, which us rather minimalistic. Splitting Cue sheets into separate tracks was what I missed and why I preferred AIMO/foobar2000. The default skin is a bit old-fashioned but there are so many skins to choose so anyone would find their favourite.

@TP109
If you need XMPlay version 3.8.1.0, I have it and uploaded it:

You can download it from any of these two download locations- the file is the same.

Ver 3.8.1.0 worked fine, but 3.8.1.1 hangs on XP. Went back to 3.8.0.5 (didn't have a backup of 3.8.1.0) and all is OK. I use the WAModern Good OL' Winamp skin (I'm not a fan of WinAmp). It doesn't really look like WinAmp and the minibar for this skin is great. I agree that most XMPlay skins are not very good.

smargadus - Default skin does suck. Hopefully that doesn't deter anyone from using it through. (I personally use the Euphoria skin.)

Splitting the tracks from a cue sheet as separate playlist items is genius. Loved that feature when it was introduced.

XMPlay is still definitely the best bit-for-bit audio player on the planet! :)

Since version 3.8.0.0 XMPlay renders Cue sheets the way I like- as separate tracks. I have found a fine skin for my taste (since I am not in love with the default one) and for me there's little to be desired- small, light, fully portable, many supported formats (via plug-ins), an excellent audio player.
