MP3val is a high-speed tool for validating and fixing MP3 files. Although primarily designed for verification of MPEG 1 Layer III files, it also supports other MPEG versions and layers (MPG, MP2, etc). It is also aware of the most common types of tags (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2).

If you just want to know details of your MP3 files, Mr QuestionMan ( http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=5 ) might be a good option...

Download, extract it with Universal Extractor, UPX the EXE if you will (reduced to 38%) and sail away. Don't let its beta status fool you, MQM is stable and fully portable -- it keeps its settings in an INI file on the folder it starts from. Plus it generates good HTML reports with the same columns you select for its main window.

Where are the log files located when using the front end on an XP machine? Any ideas?
