UNetbootin allows you to create a bootable operating system on a USB drive without burning a CD. Can use regular ISO files or download from any of the major Linux and FreeBSD distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, NetBSD, etc.) as well as bootable system utilities for repair, recovery, testing and more.

Also available for Mac and Linux.

I used this program successfully to get Ubuntu set up on an old Mac.

Latest version won't launch under windows XP.
Last compatible version seems to be 6.61 for XP.

v702 failed to create a bootable USB drive with the official Ubuntu 20.04 ISO. Rufus succeeded though.
