I just released ASuite 1.5.1 stable version (like ASuite 1.5.1, no alpha/beta for this version). This is a only maintenance version of last ASuite version: I only fixed bugs of ASuite 1.5.1 and I didn't added new features.

For who doesn't know it, ASuite is an application launcher to manage an unlimited number of files, folders and webpage for quick access. It is designed to work with removable storage (uses relative paths) media like USB sticks, hard drives, iPods, etc.

Changes

Wrong label in window Software Order (ID 1938579)
"Run and Hide" setting does not hide ASuite taskbar icon (ID 1940426)
ASuite does not execute software with relative path with �..� (ID 1940450)
ASuite opens folders or applications in normal state (default) and not its last state (ID 1961889)

Couldn't get it to run on Win2K and WinXP.

Says MSSTDFMT.DLL is not installed, even though I dumped the entire content of Weezo.CAB (inside WeezoDLLPack.zip) into the "bin" subfolder.

I didn't want to go the "setup.exe" route to install those DLLs and OCXs.

The newest release of the Opera Launcher from winPenPack at http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.710/ is the only portable Opera with functional spell checking. The Aspell that X-Opera uses is part of X-Notepad++. X-Opera is just the environment so Opera must me downloaded from http://www.opera.com/download/ and installed. The Opera program folder contents are copied to the \winpenpack\bin\opera\ folder the launcher creates and Opera is then uninstalled from the hard drive. Download X-Notepad++ at http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.744 then install that to the usb drive and you are off and running. Cheers.

I haven't used nLite for a good two years, from what I remember, irrespective to settings at the moment, at a files level nLite is already portable. Just stick it on your flash key and take to another computer.

As far as settings go, I seem to remember it stores in an .ini file anyway, but I could be wrong. Assuming I'm not wrong then what might this launcher achieve? Are there stray registry keys?

Anyway, as for including this program in the database, it won't happen. I suggest you use the search function before submitting programs that require the .NET framework. There is a stripped down framework available for download from the nLite website.

There are even reg-keys in the subfolders.
Most of the programs are share- or payware ... and you can download them for free

That's definetly not legal.

Hello MiDoJo,

In fact, if you use the portable version of MobaPhoto (in the download page, download the zip package), it won't add any registry entries, even at first run. It also won't show you the settings window, so perhaps did you change the filename of the executable or the .mbp file.
--> In fact, these 2 files must have the exact same name in order to be fully portable.

We added five new utilities:

NTPClient returns the current time as reported by a NTP server and calculates the local clock offset based on RFC 1315 and RFC 2030. NTPClient supports the NTP (Network Time Protocol) up to version 3.

IsAdmin detects whether a user is a member of the local Administrators group, either through direct membership in the Administrators group or through indirect membership through another group.

CheckDB verifies a database connection through ODBC to ensure that a connection to a database can be established. You can optionally also run a single SQL statement after a successful connection has been established. A connection can be specified either through a DSN (Data Source Name) or a connection string. The output from CheckDB can either be displayed in the command line or logged to the event log.

CheckURL verifies availability of a web page and can also check for content inside the page and/or verify the checksum of that page. CheckURL can also log its actions to the event log and supports web-based authentication for password-protected web pages.

The Event Message Browser lets you view all available event messages that may be logged on your system. You can simply select an event log (e.g. Application) and select one of the available event sources from that log (e.g. ntbackup) and then review all the available Event IDs from that source. You can also use the Event Message Browser to generate test messages in the event log.

Seem good to me.

First Run asks you to set settings. All of the settings seem to save in the mdp file, which is readable in plain text. This file lists the current (probably the last run until program is run) drive location (i.e. e:\temploadpoint\Mobaphoto.exe) but this changes per computer (i.e. my drive locally is M but if I take it to another computer my drive is E) without asking for settings again. This is a good sign of portability; for contrast nirsoft programs which do leave reg entries ask you to agree to the license of every computer you use it on, this is not so with this program.

I don't have regshot currently so other members should test. But I give it thumbs up.

EDIT: Unsure why (though I think it's because I first ran it from my desktop) but the first run did create registry entries. I deleted the entries and ran the program (this time off my flash drive) and the were no reg entries made. mmm more tests to come.
