Re: Ventoy - Multiboot Usb Creator
Having used YUMI for almost 10 years, I haven't had a reason to switch to something else. I would probably switch to Ventoy since its very easy to use and update. Just copy ISO's to root of drive and it just works. But for some things I use it requires some workarounds like this https://github.com/v...

Re: qBittorrent
The issues to portable mode we brought up have since been fixed in v4.2.2 and up. Native portable mode has been working great for me at least.

Re: Discord
Out of frustration and not really wanting to install Discord, I decided to try the Riot.im program by the same group (https://portapps.io/app/riot-portable/) ... that one also seems to be having problems: I just tested with Win10 x64 and Win7 x64 both Discord and Riot.im work fine for me. Even trie...

Re: Sandboxie becomes free
Interesting roadmap/ideas/plans for improving Sandboxie from the dev of https://github.com/sandboxie-dev/Sandboxie Its the same as xanasoft, name was just changed to indicate it as a community collaborative project . Previous links redirects to it. And I have a sort of road map, currently more an un...

Re: qBittorrent
New users can use portable mode but need to understand the limitations and they be fine. If you want to save files in the same drive letter then you're restricted to saving it in the profile\qbittorrent\downloads folder. If you wanna save in the same drive letter but outside of the profile folder th...

Re: qBittorrent
The "glitch" is worse than I thought; basically the bug with portable mode breaking file paths on the same drive letter - as detailed on the previous page: https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=88484#p88484 - still exists You're right the bug is still there. I don't usua...

Re: qBittorrent
V4.2.1 finally adds painless way to enable portable mode. Simply needs a folder named "profile" to reside next to the executable. No more command line or env variable nonsense needed. Also seems to behave properly with .torrent and magnet associations now while in portable mode. Github iss...

Re: Thoughts on the future of RSS/feeds and keeping track of program release news
I'm completely dependant on RSS feeds to keep up to date that going without it makes me feel like a drug addict on withdrawal. Could you give us a quick rundown on what you have running on RSS and why it's so crucial? I'm hoping that, if you can make the case for why this is so important, you can p...

Re: Thoughts on the future of RSS/feeds and keeping track of program release news
Even when big sites like twitter removed their native RSS feed, services like http://twitrss.me/ will pop up to fill that need. There's also ones like https://feed43.com/ that let you make custom RSS from any website. Stuff like podcasts and most forums still use RSS. I don't see software repositori...

Re: Thoughts on the future of RSS/feeds and keeping track of program release news
I'm completely dependant on RSS feeds to keep up to date that going without it makes me feel like a drug addict on withdrawal. The speed that one can consume information with any RSS feed reader is so fast that I can't imagine going back to relying on some website aggregator or individually checking...

Re: USB Flash drive lifespan + portable apps
Just get an M.2 SSD drive and put it in an external USB enclosure. You get more speed and endurance than a typical flash drive and more flexibility since you can just take the M.2 drive and plug into your motherboard if you wanted.

Re: qBittorrent
User loin2kolpotoru noted in comments It now supports --portable parameter. Anyone have any idea on how to use that or should we leave the extract instructions as-is? Well yeah its supported that for awhile now. loin2kolpotoru a little late on that news. The issue with --portable still exists. I/O ...

WuMgr (Update Manager for Windows)
I'll just copy paste the developers words from https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-update-manager.77736/ He actively posts there if you want to follow or participate in the developments. This is basically an open source alternative to Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT). WuMgr (Update Manage...

Re: PDF-XChange Editor
I recommend against updating to the latest version. The reviewer from here http://www.softerviews.org/PDF-XChange.html, he said "I uninstalled version 7.0 because it changed too many features that I liked." But I'm not sure if he meant the free or paid versions features. His review still ...
