Portable software locked to a specific virtual desktop?

I have been testing several virtual desktop apps & none of them seem to be able to keep portable programs locked/pinned to a specific desktop
I am trying to run a different Rainmeter config on each desktop, as well as a different CD Art Display skin, but no matter what desktop I switch to, these programs stay in exactly the same place on every one
I also tested The KMPlayer just to see if it was those particular programs, but it appears to be any "portable" in general
Does anyone have any ideas why this is the case, I'm assuming that its because the software is not "installed" & Window$ can't "hook" it
I'm not the most technical person in the world, but I can easily grasp most theories on OS operations, so if anyone has any suggestions or a similar problem I'd sure appreciate the response
