I recently got an HP Printer (early Christmas present
), because my other printer didn't work with Vista. All I had to do to get printing going was plug the printer in and the drivers were installed. That provides basic printing options and not "scanning". I didn't want to clutter my machine with software I'll use on rare occupations if I used the Installation CD, the total installation would of taken over half and hour, and would have used 1.5 GB's of HD space. I didn't want to go through that process, it's like installing windows, or any adobe product!So I found VueScan, the thing that caught my eye was that it works with *many* printers and scanners, it's very small (5 MB download, 10 MB installed) for what it does and it doesn't install or change anything in your system - too bad it's not free though, it's still worth the money if you can afford it. (standard $39.95, professional $79.95)
I'd probably settle for any free "portable" scanner, that supports my printer.VueScan is a powerful, easy to use program that:
