Free Hide Folder

#1 Post by Simon.T »

Free Hide Folder is a free computer security software to hide your private folders. It is very useful to keep your personal data away from others. Others will not know where your personal files exist and they will not be able to accidentally view them. You can hide folders simply with a few mouse clicks. Free Hide Folder is protected by a password that you can change or remove at any time.

it creates an options.ini file an I think that it stores the password in the Uniast.exe file (kindda odd :? )

note: more softs: http://cleanersoft.com/download.htm

see... i did 99 silly posts!!!    :P  :?: :)  :o :P hehehe

Hi!

I tested it with regshot. It does not write "settings" into the registry, but it leaves traces of the crypted foder name, and of the password ("pippo") which is used:

Code: Select all

----------------------------------
Values added:5
----------------------------------
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\New\@255: "MCC"
HKU\S-1-5-21-407404009-2007238923-643028249-1007\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Namespace\BAR: "krkkl"
HKU\S-1-5-21-407404009-2007238923-643028249-1007\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Namespace\Javax0: "X:*gvnk*KzlolXW*hvgviiz"
HKU\S-1-5-21-407404009-2007238923-643028249-1007\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Namespace\getPrefix0: "W"
HKU\S-1-5-21-407404009-2007238923-643028249-1007\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Namespace\Declaration0: "X:*gvnk*KzlolXW*hvgviiz"
The second value is the password, I guess.
I think that it is easily "brekable"... and the presence of the hidden folder is visible in the registry.

I think that it can be accepted as portable app only if intended to be used only on fixed HD (like a parasite!), but can´t work on portable devices (I guess).

Have you comments/suggestions?
Thanks

yep! I thought about this kind of situation and I think that we can leave it behind

note: I don't think that softwares like this which are target is to deal with the system (like hiding the system's files) can not be on TPFC

YaY! #100!! it's time to PARTY
