Clipdiary is free today (4/26/09) at GOTD. TPFC seems to be having some problems right now (at least for me), so I hope any interested parties see this in time! I posted instructions for portable use here in the comments (duplicated below):
Actually, Clipdiary can be used portably. Here’s how to do it with the GOTD version (or at least, the somewhat hard method probably most in compliance with GOTD’s terms and conditions):
1. Install as described
2. Run the program - go through (or cancel) the setup wizard, then press Ctrl+D to open the main window.
3. Click on Help and select About.
4. Select “View detail information”. Clipdiary will show it, and also copy it to the clipboard.
5. Paste your “detail information” to Notepad or something. There should be a section near the end that has the key. It tells you very specifically “BEGIN KEY” and “END KEY” (but you can skip the blank lines on each side of the key). You’ll need this later.
6. Copy your install folder (default is C:\Program Files\Clipdiary) someplace. This will become your portable copy.
The install folder has a .bat file called “_RUN_Clipdiary_Portable.bat”
These are its contents:
rem You should copy your databse and config file from the “C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Clipdiary\” or “C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Clipdiary” to this folder first
start clipdiary.exe –portable
7. For better compatability, change the last line from:
start clipdiary.exe –portable
to:
start /D”%~dp0%” clipdiary.exe –portable
8. Run the .bat file. You’ll probably have to re-do/cancel the setup wizard.
9. Click on Help, About, “Enter a license key”. It’ll warn you that you’ve already got one, but that’s in the registry. You need to add it for the portable version. Paste your key from earlier into this window and click “Register it”. The program will restart - and you should have a registered portable version!
