Thanks for your quick assessment - I have also downloaded and quickly tested this app - I like it - it seems to have a lot of potential packaging and/or giving access to many useful utilities in one place. My only concern so far is a false positive (I think) stating there is an unspecified virus in "C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe".

As a 'semi-technical' user (at best), I would interested in hearing of other people's experience with Simple Machine Protect.

BTW - I am using it on a machine running Vista :? even though that Operating System is not listed on their homepage.
