Topic update: as noted above, Paint.NET v5.0.13 released 2024-03-05 (changes at https://www.getpaint.net/roadmap.html; check the blog post announcement as well its forum post).

Is Paint.NET free?
There are two releases of Paint.NET. One is free, the other is paid:The functionality is the same for each release, except that the "Store" release has fully automatic updating.
- Classic: The "Classic" release is downloaded from this website and is provided free-of-charge.
- Store: The "Store" release is downloaded through Microsoft's Windows Store and is paid.
System Requirements: Windows 11; or Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer); or Windows Server 2019; or Windows Server 2022; 64-bit CPU (Intel/AMD x64 or ARM64).

Paint.NET runs on Microsoft .NET 7[!], which is included as part of the app. It does not need to be installed separately.

I just followed the link: https://www.getpaint.net/ but I could not find how to download paint.net outside of the Microsoft store,
but I could get it from Softpedia: https://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedi ... -NET.shtml
