Eraser Admin rights & "Unused space on drive"

#1 Post by donald »

To be specific I am referring to erasing "Unused space on drive"

Every once in a while I use a machine with a very small recycle bin setting or set to delete automatically (skipping the recycle bin) and then I need to erase "Unused space on drive"

(My preference is to erase ?:\$RECYCLE.BIN)

My preference would be to erase only the files I want to erase and not the whole drive, as such I would like to add back deleted items to the table which lists regular files that have not been deleted.

I would like to do this to properly erase them without erasing the entire drive.

In Vi$ta Admin access is required to erase "Unused space on drive" and it still will not work for me eraser crashes at 2 percent.

Another solution to remove the need for admin access is to fill the disk with deletable files then erase them all at once or in chunks.

I would like it if a utility to fill up the disk could be added to Eraser so the Admin requirement to erase "Unused space on drive" could be avoided and the space erased none the less.

An example of a utility for filling the disk is FillDisk v0.02 which fills all available space so that it can now be erased without admin access http://www.cylog.org/utilities/filldisk.jsp

Anyone else who has this problem in Vi$ta might consider joining the forums for eraser or adding a suggestion for improvement.

I already did http://eraser.heidi.ie/trac/ticket/204

I is important to note that the suggestion/bug forum is separate from the rest of the forums which are at http://bbs.heidi.ie/viewforum.php?f=30
