I've been using the method outlined by mohsin for several months now.

I don't want to use the PortableApps version. How I can make Skype portable?
Re: Make Skype portable …
@Amadeus, mohsin has already given indications on how to make Skype portable: http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... 890#p31890
Alternatively you can use winPenPack's X-Launcher to pass parameters. Download it from http://www.winpenpack.com/en/download.php?view.15 , open X-Launcher.ini with a text editor , delete all content and add this code http://www.winpenpack.com/en/e107_plugi ... ?3784.post

Re: Calimero Skype Launcher
Is there any updated version available ?
Re: Calimero Skype Launcher
Version 2 was released more than a year ago, and -- given the number of changes to Skype since then -- likely doesn't work.bredhedden1 wrote:Is there any updated version available ?

Maybe this topic should be merged with this one.

Agreed -- all set.lautrepay wrote:Maybe this topic should be merged with this one.

Moderator note: various threads above have been merged and may seem unconnected or even refer to each other.
Re: Skype Portable V4.1
It's great looking at old posts, especially this quote. Seems U3 never did and the project was phased out late 2009. Hope it wasn't something I said?guinness wrote:Wow, how did they pull that combination off? Plus it looks as though PortableApps will start to introduce Closed Source applications, seems as though U3 will have to pull their finger out!!
Re: Skype Portable V4.1
Heheh ... I'm a little surprised U3 didn't stick around in some capacity. They've got to value-add on those flash drives somehow. I guess it all went the direction of speed or encryption.guinness wrote:It's great looking at old posts, especially this quote. Seems U3 never did and the project was phased out late 2009. Re: Portable Skype
If you are about to log in with your Microsoft account you have to take care of this directory (namely copy this directory there before launching):
Otherwise Skype will allow log in with your Skype username and password, so you won't see your Messenger pals.
Took some time to figure it out when updating my yaP launcher. I was first about to steal info from the PortableApps launcher source code but guess what, it is not available.
Code: Select all
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Skype\Apps\login

Re: Portable Skype
There is a file named "PortableApps.comInstallerCustom.nsh" under "SkypePortable\Other\Source" (if you "install" the PortableApps Skype app). Is this the launcher's source code you're seeking?
Re: Portable Skype
Yes I saw that but that's only the online installer's source. Anyway, I have managed to solve without it but thanks.

Can anyone verify this? Is Skype no longer stealth?

Re: Portable Skype
Indeed, it's not. I regshotted it and submitted a bug report to PortableApps.com: http://portableapps.com/node/37792webfork wrote:http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.p ... mment24843

There may be even more traces because I have already ran Skype Portable on my computer.
I updated the entry to version 6.7.59.102 and set Stealth: to No.
Note that toitoy may have actually complained about the fact that Skype uses Trident and leaves files in Internet Explorer's cache. IE cache is considered an official area for temporary files, so leaving files there doesn't make Skype Portable non-stealth.
