I tested the app and it runs without any problem on my PC using the redllar's settings.
BTW, I don't always get zombies, just sometimes.
Maybe you could try to add this setting in the .ini file:

Code: Select all

[Redirection]
MemRegistry=4
First try with your existing .reg. If it still occurs, try to delete the .reg.

I start the portable wrapper from a console session, if that matters.
Hmmm. It might.

Also, I can't think of anything that JPE's doing that "should" cause the app not to terminate properly depending on how its main window is closed. But, just for grins, you might try turning off all of those [Redirection] display-oriented settings; the UseIcon, ModFrame, and ...Disco ones. Maybe something wonky's happening during the processing of those things while the app is shutting down. It could be a timing thing which is why it's not being consistently seen.

OK, thanks Chris and Redllar. I've eliminated the batch file and disabled all ...Disco dance. I'll keep an eye on it and post again if I find more problems.

(Mozilla) KompoZer v0.7.10 - OSS WYSISYG HTML Editor

No registry usage; settings saved in user's AppData folder.

Note that 1st launch will fail with JPE dialogue box popping up stating this. Subsequent launches work perfectly. I think that the discovery.ini file is missing one or more .exe or .dll's which recreate the "extension" folder in the application folder and in the redirected AppData folders...both "extension" folders are exactly the same.

DVDFabHDDecrypter - Freeware DVD Decrypter, ripper and copier to Hard Disk
http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
Portability hell! Leaves registry values, directories/files in AppData, directories/files in My Documents folder and a bunch of other things.

Note that you should change the directory to where you are going to Rip the DVD. It should not be into your My Documents folder because this .ini file will redirect the ripped vob files to your Application Directory and since DVD's take up 4 Gb to 8 Gb, this could take very very very long. It is slow anyways, but you don't need 8 Gb's on your USB key.

chezduong, I have also had loads of fun making DVDFabHDDecrypter portable.

I have a quick question on your ini.

What do you use the special folders 40 & 62 for? Isn't the AppData accounted for with the redirection of 26,28 & 35?

Thanks for helping me understand.

@BAHeath, It took me more than two weeks off and on to get this baby to work more or less correctly. Just out of curiosity, other than the question you ask, how does your .ini file compare to mine?

Concerning special folders 40 and 62, think of it as the redundancy that they put in airplanes -- there are always multiple backups to every critical function in an airplane.

In theory, special folders 26, 28 & 35 cover the AppData folder, but I saw in a previous post a few weeks back that redllar also included special folders 40 and 62 with a folder name (maybe AppData). I guessed at the time it was for the same reason -- redundancy. I did not ask any questions, but figured that if it was good enough for redllar to do it, I can certainly benefit from it. Besides, it does not hurt (maybe on speed, but speed is not that important to me).
