TeamTalk v. 3.4 Download:
http://bearware.compytech.net/TeamTalk_v3.4_Setup.exe
This is the latest version of TeamTalk which is a voice conferencing application (or internet phone). TeamTalk allows you to talk to friends and colleagues using the internet as audio carrier. With TeamTalk any number of people can participate in a conversation and is only limited by the bandwidth you have available. Each user can choose his or her own audio quality which also determines the throughput required to each user. TeamTalk allows a throughput between 560 - 5850 bytes/sec. per user (so make sure those unlucky ones with a 56K modem are able to receive at your selected audio quality).
Features:
* Supports 8, 16 and 32 KHz audio for both low- and high-bandwidth users.
* Low lag by using audio broadcasting and no buffering.
* Throughput between 560 bytes/sec. and 5850 bytes/sec. per user.
* Channels with topics and passwords.
* Share files with other users in your channel.
* Hotkeys and voice activation.
* Individual volume.
* Positioning of participants using 3D sound.
* Unicode-enabled to support multiple languages.

Re: TeamTalk 3.3
Old topic update: for lack of a better option, the present is now official forum thread for TeamTalk (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=937).

I'll do a bit more than that: I'll update the entry soon with the radical featureset improvement over the last time I looked this over. Wow. Meantime, I've merged the threads and modified the first post.Midas wrote:please amend OP subject accordingly.

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
TeamTalk still not able to encrypt dataflow?
If so, use Mumble instead.

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
I wasn't able to determine what if any security items are in use by TeamTalk. I can confirm that Mumble has made some efforts towards secure connections, including what looks like a solid public key option. The code is open so presumably someone could find security failures whereas TeamTalk is proprietary so it would be more difficult to audit.CornHolio the Gringo wrote:TeamTalk still not able to encrypt dataflow? I should also note that, of the two programs, TeamTalk has video chat. However, the ratio of times I needed video over high quality audio is about 1:100; virtually all my connections that were with anything but young family members have been voice-only.

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
Just wanted to point out that TeamTalk does not encrypt dataflow.
So if privacy is important, and You only need voice, go for Mumble.
Mumble encrypts everything, and theres no option to switch encryption off.
A portable version of Mumble can be found at portableapps.com.
Running a Murmur-server:
If You want to runn Your own server, You whould need Murmur.exe and place it in the root-folder.
You also need to make a file called murmur.ini in root-folder.
At first start, Murmur sets its default settings in murmur.ini, then You can
configure it at own will. Murmur.ini then has descriptions of what each settings do.
To bypass the Murmur servers, theres a hidden option:
"for Mumble_1.2.15 and above:
Add hidden option to disable pubserver list (FR #1120)
Added ui/disablepubliclist which if set to true removes the
public server list in the connect dialog. This option isn't
available in the UI and is meant for customizing setups in
specific deployments.
[ui]
disablePublicList=true"
At https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/Main_Page You get all the help You need.
Please enjoy this great piece of software.

Where did you find this info? It's not on your link. I ask because the server element is the thing that's kept me from testing this further.Add hidden option to disable pubserver list (FR #1120)

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
Found it when Mumble_1.2.15 was released.
Its supposed to be integrated in future versions when one opens up the "connect to server" dialog.
If You implement the
[ui]
disablePublicList=true
in the mumble.ini file, then it will ignore looking up pub servers.
Try it, it works on My 1.2.15 version

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
So alert user hamasaki posted in entry comments about the program. I wasn't able to get the regular Uniextract program to open the contents, but Uniextract2 did.
Here are the proposed updated steps as it worked on my Win7x86 machine:
1. Download the installer and use Uniextract2 to a temporary folder
2. Open the folder {userappdata}\BearWare.dk and move the two files contained (TeamTalk5.ini and TeamTalk5Classic.xml) to the {app} folder
3. Launch TeamTalk5.exe
Could someone check this process and let me know if that's adequate?
---
Note that this might be a more thorough test if you connect to the server. I tried signing up for the service but was unable to connect to the public server tt5us.bearware.dk (ports 10335 10335 username bearware).

Re: TeamTalk - collaboration and conferencing suite
Can confirm.
Briefly tested as instructed, using UniExtract2 (and Primo) but no server connection.
No traces except for the mandatory firewall traversing authorization -- written to 'HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules\'.
