LameDrop & Others

Super simple Mp3 encoder: LameDropXP:

LameDropXPd v2
http://rarewares.org/mp3.html

Rarewares isn't very clear about what to download (there's a lot of files on the page) but I recommend the LAME 3.97 Release of LameDropXPd (the 3.98 series is in alpha).

Once you have the program, everything is simple as pie: just Drop WAV files to have them encoded in the best MP3 encoder available, even in batches. All settings are managed through a right-click, including file quality, whether or not to delete the original, and so forth.

To *decode* mp3s, you just drag and drop them and the program will automatically send them back to wav format.

There's also a MacOS X version for Lame.

Beyond Lamedrop, the site also offers AAC (iPod), Ogg Vorbis (open source), FLAC (open, lossless), and others. I have them all in my Pstart menu.

Seems to already be in the database:

I use this one too together with OggDropXPd, nice and simple (right-click for more options) and they produce good-quality files.

Have a nice day.

I could SWEAR I ran a check for that... I must have misspelled it.

Sorry to waste anyone's time. I would have reformatted the discussion to say "LameDrop is great but look at all these other proggies..."
