Sandboxie - secure software environment
I was wondering if there was any way to make Sandbox portable. Sandbox lets you try out programs without them modifying your computer in any way. I installed it on my computer and it has worked pretty well. I'm new to the whole portable programs thing, so thanks for your help!

If you do a search on the Sandboxie forum, you'll find several threads on portability from about a year ago under the older 2.6x topic area.
Basically a user named Pablo developed an AutoHotKey script which adds and removes registry entries for Sandboxie like a wrapper. The script code is offered in the thread. I believe, however, that you still have to install Sandboxie's drivers the first time with Administrator privileges.
So, the bottom line is that Sandboxie cannot really be made portable under the strictest definitions.
It would be wonderful if it could be modified to be portable and I believe Ronen Tzur, the developer of Sandboxie, has said on the Sandboxie's forums (probably under the older 2.6x topics) that he would think about that at some time -- but probably not anytime soon.
The problem of installing drivers without Administrative privileges is a major issue for Sandboxie and other great programs (like TrueCrypt).

Iamme, i think i know why Joel Darcy have interested in this sanboxie portable idea..
the main concept of sanboxie portable is not for the testing purpose, but to make the possibility portablized all types of software. if the sanboxie can isolate the progams with its own environment and sanboxie itself portable, this means you can bring whole programs in usbdrive...
and since it needs admin privileges to run, mybe this concept can be used for maintainance purpose. for example, pc01 infected with spyware and the spyware has disable pc01 to install antispyware. we can use healty pc02, install antispyware in sanboxie portable (to isolate the antispyware), update the antispyware, then brings the whole sanboxie portable+antispyware using usbdrive to repair pc01..
it was a really nice concept
by the way, i have a copy sanboxie portable
but still not testing yet with the situation above

A portable version on sandboxie is now available (done by Pablo). This version is based on 2.92 version.
Tread on the sandboxie forum: http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.ph ... 78eb5f3561
Program: http://www.sandboxie.com/PortableSandboxie.zip
I've just done a quick test and it seem to work but need deeper testing anyway.

Pablo's script is great, but this is just a reminder that Sandboxie must install drivers.
So, using the portable version of Sandboxie with Pablo's script still requires administrative rights.
Also please note that the new script works with the current beta version (2.9x) and may not work with the current stable version (2.86) from the regular download page. That's because Sandboxie's registry entries have been changed, and it appears the new script is designed to work with the newer 2.9x version of Sandboxie, still currently in beta testing.
So, if you're using a 2.9x version of Sandboxie and have administrative rights, Pablo's new script is very useful. It may work with earlier versions of Sandboxie, but I have not tested it with them.

XPect - thanks for the link.
Yucca - yes, it needs 2.9x beta(s) to work.

NB: be aware of bugs causing system crashes - latest update seems to have fixed that:
