I think by default TAC should use the host system's temp folder & the users should have the option to change it if they want due to some reason.

Great, thanks.
ozok wrote:how should TAC handle temp files on portable version? ... Should there be an option to switch between these two options?
Yes, with the default behavior should definitely be the system temp folder. The assumption should be that the fastest drive is the system temp, but that's not necessarily true anymore since a lot of flash-based media seem to be overtaking local storage in terms of speed. Additionally, other users will want to reduce the number of writes over time to flash media and may want to point to a magnetic-based media temp folder.

Thanks for asking :)

Hi, ozok. Thanks for releasing such a well thought and powerful audio tool -- let me greet you on behalf of the Internet at large... 8)

Finally got down to testing TAC (build 0.9.1.2820, according to file properties) and so far, so good -- I'm quite impressed with the overall design, especially the choice of internal skins. Nonetheless, here are a few (minor) issues presented to me...
  • For the sake of consistency and easier management, NeroAAC files would be preferably located in 'NeroAAC' sub-folder of the existing 'Tools', instead of alongside the TAC executable (which, BTW, I only discovered after finding your answer at http://sourceforge.net/p/taudioconverte ... /2faf91ad/).
  • As referenced in most codec settings, but completely new to me, could you please direct me to an authoritative reference on the use of LossyWAV?
  • Last, but not least, I find that text on TAC interface buttons should be optional...

Thanks guys, it's been a while since the previous update. I hope this version works well for all.

@Midas
-I have a few plans in mind for neroaac tools. I was planning to have an explanation about it in the help file I wanted to add to this release but it turned out to be quite a challenge for me. (I'm lazy that's the challenge)
-You can find detailed info about lossyWAV here: http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=LossyWAV Remember to activate "Extra codec options for lossyWAV" when you use it.
-If you mean the toolbar buttons (Add, CD Ripper, Trim etc) I can add this. I was planning to group interface options so this would make a fine addition.

Regards.

  • (Join the club ;)) What I suggested would be an easy way out, for the time being...

  • Thanks. I get it now -- and I think I'll pass, since it falls through my current digital audio packers use. When I go lossless, I want bit level fidelity; most of the time I just want standard & lossy for playback (mostly meaning MP3 LAME --standard).

  • Correct (and great!). Thanks for the feedback. 8)

TAC(0.9.1.2620) is unable to convert/extract audio from a video if the video has audio in ac3 format.

I have a suggestion please add a option in the setting menu for changing the location of the tac setting to be stored then we can download one installer and use it for both portable and non portable version something similar to the irfanview.

I've noticed that problem too. I guess it appears when the said video file has a "Data" stream alongside with video and audio - I don't know what this "Data" stream is suppose to be. I fixed it and it'll be in the next release which I plan to release in a few days. I've also noticed some problems with embedded artwork, especially if the source is WMA. I've fixed these bugs too.

@Midas I was planning to add a function to TAC to search for neroaac tools inside it's folder, including subfolders so you could place them anywhere you want to.

Thank you Looking forward to the fix but what do u think about adding a option to change the location of the setting to be stored so that one version can be used both as portable and non portable application?

function to TAC to search for neroaac tools inside it's folder, including subfolders so you could place them anywhere you want to will be a good additon.

Thank you Midas for the suggestion.
