Deluge (torrent client)

#1 Post by WIkiQUsK »

Deluge is a full-featured BitTorrent client for Linux, OS X, Unix and Windows. It uses libtorrent in its backend and features multiple user-interfaces including: GTK+, web and console.

License: GPL

How to extract: Download the installer and extract to a folder of your choice. delete the "$PLUGINSDIR" folder and move the files and folders inside "$_OUTDIR" to the root (.exe) folder

Launch deluge.exe with "-c data" (replace "data" with whatever you wanna name the folder) parameter so that it saves settings inside the program folder

Used regshot to test and it seems to be pretty much stealth

Good stuff, thanks. I dug into this a while back but I couldn't find any portability stuff (apart from an outdated PA wrapper: http://portableapps.com/node/12115) ... where did you find out about the command line bits for portability?

I found it in their forums actually (http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtop ... 5&start=10). Was looking if there was a way to make it portable without wrappers.

ah, missed that one completely
I guess it can't be considered stealth after all...

Ah well, still portable and a great program. IMO the best torrent client currently available, specially considering it's Free Software.

How to handle plugins (egg files) portable :?:
They are at: %APPDATA%\deluge\plugins

If you're using the parameter properly they should be installed in the "data" folder, in "plugins".
Works for me.

On a side note. Installing plugins apparently breaks stealth creating a folder in "appdata\roaming\Python-Eggs". Doesn't appear to break portability but still I'm trying to figure out how to avoid this.

Checker is correct but you probably don't speak German ... hence the confusion

Plugins are in \deluge-1.3.6-py2.6.egg\deluge\plugins but once you enable a plugin under preference (see image) the plugin data and config (PluginName_pref.glade) are saved to \AppData\Roaming\Python-Eggs\blocklist-1.2-py2.6.egg-tmp\PluginName\data

hehe I thought he was talking about manually adding .egg plugins (plugins>install plugin...) or something, cause he mentioned a "deluge" folder and not a "python-eggs" folder
Anyway, yea, i don't know how to handle that annoyance :( ...

But like i said before, i don't think this is breaking portability cause the plugin actual configurations aren't being saved there (edit:they are saved in data\pluginname.config).
I've enabled a bunch of plugins for testing, and for example, created a label and changed its complete download location. Then i close deluge, delete "appdata\roaming\python-eggs folder", reopen deluge. The label is still there, same for other plugins configurations...

Deluge is already in the database, but a private entry. It will remain private if it doesn't get enough votes.
