A Thousand Words is a screen capture wizard with an editor. It's intended use is to allow less tech-savvy users to point out exactly what's wrong to helpers on forums and the like.

Tested: Portable (Not Stealth)

It creates an empty registry key at HKCU\current\software\Boredomsoft.

Odd; I do not get this key written to the registry. Do you run as Administrator / User?

No keys were created on my machine. Did you change any settings?

Anyone else willing to test?

I did change some settings, like for example from jpg to png.

I've discounted screencapture tools that are too simple but I can see remote tech support going a LOT easier with something like this. I also like the title.

What happens with the Edit and Advanced buttons?

This was added to the database before being reported as writing to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Boredomsoft\ATW

I just retested this on Win7x86 and it's still not writing any settings anywhere on my machine. It's a great program that I'd like to vote for but the differing results in this thread over time suggest that the settings behave differently. Might depending on your version of Windows, I'm not sure.

Just to be clear, previously reported traces left by ATW wouldn't make it non-portable, only non-stealth...

That's good enough for me. I just voted for the entry and pushed this to the Portable subforum.
