This reminds me of a similar program, Hash so much so I wonder if it's a fork. Anyway, it looks great. Very simple, clear, and always happy to see cross-platform tools.

License is GPLv2

This is quite possible, is Hash (I didn't know this program) open-source? The major difference is that Hash lets the user to choose which hash algorithms should be used, while fHash doesn't. But fHash offers shell integration and verification. All I miss in fHash is Stay on Top option.

Actually I'd forgotten but no: Hash is closed-source so that makes fHash all the better.

fHash has been added: http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2763

It's not as if we don't already have a lot of great hashing programs on the site but I find myself using this program a lot so I owe the developer a little of my effort.

Pretty nice program! I like the fact that the results it generates are all text. Makes it very quick and easy to drag and file and then copy the results that are already in text and clearly labeled. So thanks for this!

Btw, the Website link is broken. It's pointing to http://www.portablefreeware.com/sourcef ... cts/fhash/ rather than http://sourceforge.net/projects/fhash/

I've been using this program for a while now and had a few suggestions ...

Wishlist

* VirusTotal inclusion (button, URL in the output window, or something similar)
* Ability to exclude a given hash
* Ability to save and verify .sfv, .md5, .sha1, etc. files
* Different font for the about menu

----

Edit: something posted on the gihub site about these

fHash at version 2.1.0- I could find a change log neither at SourceForge nor at GitHub, there is some information at publisher's blog.

I noticed one change- clicking on a hash value opens context menu:
  • Copy hash value
  • Search Google
  • Search VirusTotal
Screen-shot:

"Search VirusTotal" works if a file has been already indexed but "Search Google" seems pointless to me.

All fHash downloads

A new screenshot for the new version. Nothing on SHA 512 request that smaragdus put in: https://github.com/sunjw/fhash/issues/5
