IP2 http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1577
Went to download the IP2 app on PFC and got a warning through Firefox. Tried downloading from the keir.net site (in case they moved the file) but got the same message.

Reported Unwanted Software Page!
This webpage at keir.net has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences.
Unwanted software pages try to install software than can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways.

Is this just Firefox being cranky or does anyone know if there is an actual problem with the app or the website?
Seemed like it would be useful little utility.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Firefox flagging IP2 site as a Reported Unwanted Softwar
Firefox uses Google's badware/phishing blacklists for its filtering, which is why Chrome also displays the same message (with a pure red background I might add). No idea how the site ended up on their list.

This comes up a lot with network tools. I'd download it from softpedia if you're worried: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-To ... /IP2.shtml
The longer version is has mostly been covered by other posters: it's a safe site and a safe download. Just like antivirus software, security services are over-careful rather than too permissive. That sacrifices independent developers for overall user safety.
I could go on about this topic in length but maybe the most interesting point is that VirusTotal is owned by Google who, as Specular points out, is responsible for the Firefox malware list as well. There are clearly two separate threat lists.
