MP3Val

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

MP3Val

#1 Post by TP109 »

I know this app was submitted awhile back but had no votes and was dropped when the new voting system was implemented. I think this may be worth another look.

Author's Description

MP3val is a small, high-speed, free software tool for checking MPEG audio files' integrity. It can be useful for finding corrupted files (e.g. incompletely downloaded, truncated, containing garbage). MP3val is also able to fix most of the problems. Being a multiplatform application, MP3val can be runned both under Windows and under Linux (or BSD).

The most common MPEG audio file type is MPEG 1 Layer III (mp3), but MP3val supports also other MPEG versions and layers. The tool is also aware of the most common types of tags (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2).

Already in the database :!:
See

That may be the reason why your entry is still on "private" status.

My search didn't show that. My error. I recommended Andrew's submission. This thread can be deleted then along with my submission.

Whoa -- good catch. I've tested this program and it works well and I consider a valuable addition to the site. Voted.

Edit: whoops -- I missed checker's link. Yeah its already been accepted and its live.

Andrew is the admin, but I'd be very surprised if he deleted anything; this is a pretty open forum.

@ Andrew Lee:
One question is still open :!:
What will happen if the version of TP109 (which is still on "private" status) gets 10 or more votes :?:
Will MP3Val then appear twice :?:

Based on what Andrew has said about this before, I'm guessing he'll cross that road when we come to it.

A suggestion is if someone adds any portable software to TPFC, just overwrite the entry and post as a new addition, because the application is still at 0 votes.

I have done this in the past when users have added an application already in the database.

Or Andrew will delete the entry, which has happened in the past.
