Re: Flashnote
Well Flashnotes really is just a replacement for clipX for me;
a scratchpad or a little snippet keeper...not for indepth or very important stuff
I like to use it when browsing the web,the option for new notes to automatically copy from the clipboard is pretty handy in this regard.
Dont get me wrong I used ClipX for a long time happily but editing notes is much easier with flashnote and clipx just seems a little dated to me.
I like Cinta notes for stuff I wanna keep indefinately or stuff I am gonna
revise over time or just add too with experience.
The only thing that compares to CintaNotes in my opinion is maybe MemPad.

Re: Flashnote
It appears to work almost identically to MemPad by Horst Schaeffer (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=889)
I like its looks better than Mempad, but MemPad's capabilities more. Good effort, and the other utilities also seem to have promise.

Flashnote V4.1, February 05, 2011:
Download portable version @ http://softvoile.com/flashnote/download.php•Added: Global Search (Ctrl+G).
Re: Flashnote
I like the simplicity, but was annoyed that I couldn't drag-and-drop items to form child nodes as with most of these hierarchical editors. You have to create a child node and THEN it will let you move it into a child node status. Weird.
Edit: a few other notes:
There's something I really like about this program so I kept playing with it.
Good:
* Global find and replace options
* Pretty low system resources used:
RAM used: 8.0 megs
Disk space: 8.3 megs
Bad:
* There is only one database, no export capability. You have one set of notes and if you want to push them out to some other format, you have to go one by one out to .txt files.
I liked but other people might not:
* As its intended as a basic notetaking program, I sort of like that its text-only
* Doesn't really need a dictionary ... if that gets added later on, that's fine, but I'd like to be able to turn it off, just because its distracting.
* Liked the global hotkey that would pull up the Window, but would like another that can optionally open it with a fresh (empty) note.

Re: Flashnote
I contacted the author and he responded by email that you could hold shift to do drag-and-drop stuff.
I haven't tested this yet.

Re: Flashnote
Continued conversation with the author: Evidently you can do File -> Database -> Export export all notes in database into one txt file or set of txt files.

Re: Flashnote
Flashnote 4.6 has been released. What's new after version 4.4:
Since Flashnote is still in development and since it is a natively portable, tiny, light and decent note-taking program with a clean and nice GUI I think it deserves to be included in the database. I still prefer minipad2 (which unfortunately seems to be abandoned) and MemPad, but Flashnote can be useful to many users.
..Version 4.5 November 25, 2013
· Added: New feature - different interface settings (font and colors) for Note and Notes Tree.
· Added: Support for internal link to note - like Flashnote://NoteName or fn://NoteName. Select link text and press Alt+G or icon on the toolbar in order to swith to corresponding note.
· Added: Two new items in Tools menu for selected text - Make Lower and Make Upper.
· Improved: Now you can run multiple copies of Flashnote if they use different database.
· Added: Greek localization interface language, thanks to geogeo.gr
· Added: Norwegian localization interface language, thanks to freewaretips.zxq.net
· Added: Farsi localization interface language, thanks to علی رستمی
· Added: Belarusian localization interface language, thanks to Maks Niki
· Added: Spanish localization interface language, thanks to Brad Blanchard
..Version 4.6 May 12, 2015
· Added: New feature - Capture Clipboard (use tools -> capture clipboard, not available on Windows XP).
· Added: Ctrl+tab - quick switch to last used note.
· Added: ctrl+left mouse click at link in note open it in browser.
· Fixed: Print text using current font settings.
· Improved: better support for Windows 8, big fonts and other fixes.

Re: Flashnote
One thing I particularly like about Flashnote is the possibility of customizing the entries of the "Insert" menu by editing the 'insert.cfg' plain text file present in the program folder.
Only to achieve that feature full potential, one really needs the date string formatting info that's un-intuitively tucked away at http://flashpaste.com/onlinehelp/extime.html...
E.g., here's my 'insert.cfg' current version:
