Re: FileMenu Tools
The Pack to Folder function is not exactly like Files2Folder.
The FMTools function is exactly like Files2Folders' multiple file selection pop up.
It would be much better if it did work like that
Version 6 has added alot more functions too
I noticed they also extended the attributes function to include a toggle switch
for viewing hidden files,As well as added copy UNC pathes and URL pathes
I have always used MoonSoftware's Shelltoys for these.
If he adds a filenote feature I can dump MoonSoftware's Shelltoys altogether.
Also new is Send to Mail recipient and calculate and verify checksums.
Lautrepay how does KuShellExtension compare to FileMenuTools?
I seen it in the private section and it sounds very similar.

Edit: just merged this thread with the old, "not portable" thread.

This doesn't (yet) affect us, but just a note that the installer version is now considered adware according to Softpedia:
Regular: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS- ... ools.shtml
Portable: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-S ... able.shtml
From the dev website:

Re: FileMenu Tools
Noticed the same for the Youtube Downloader HD installer too,
adware is better than ad supported I guess

Re: FileMenu Tools
As smaragdus pointed out, if you want to avoid this
don't download FileMenu Tools Portable (x86 x64) provided through LopeSoft.exe (Note that the "offer" is greyed out but selected by default).
Use this link instead.

Re: FileMenu Tools
If you wanna use the regular setup installer, its possible to bypass the adware stuff by blocking the ad sites in the HOSTS file.

Re: FileMenu Tools
Thanks to Loonier and Joby for their entry comments about the adware installer version. A note has been added to the entry.
Background:
Softpedia is definitely listing the install version as adware:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS- ... ools.shtml
... but the portable edition as freeware:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-S ... able.shtml
Fortunately the website is very clear about this:
"In order to keep this app for free and also to reward the effort spent in the application, the installer of this application uses OpenCandy. If you make a donation of at least 5€, then I will provide you a standalone installer without advertising. If you made a donation in the past, then request your standalone installer to support@lopesoft.com"

Yes, Baas, and I like it. It provides easy access but for tools already present in the S.O.I am Baas wrote: Have you tried Easy Context Menu?

The advantage of FileMenu Tools are the tools included in the software and, especially, that you can access them via a sub-menu. At the end of the day a long context menu is counterproductive.
I'm sure I can dump FileMenu Tools because I can recreate most of its functionality using Open++ or KuShellEx along with external tools, but I would need a little hack to place, for example, Files 2 Folders (its equivalent in FileMenu Tools is "Pack to folder") context menu entry in the Open++ sub-menu.
And that's something that I actually ignore how to do, or even if it's possible...

Re: FileMenu Tools
v7.0.1 is released with bugfixes. I emailed dev about an issue where v7.0 would eventually make windows explorer glitch out and unresponsive after right clicking any executable a random number of times. Still not fixed. Not sure if its only a Windows 10 x64 problem or not. Can anyone test this? Just right click any .exe a whole bunch of times like maybe 30-50 clicks until windows explorer bugs out.
edit: quickly installed filemenu tools 7.0.1 on windows 7 and explorer glitch happens too. I would assume it affects 8 as well.
edit2: actually just right clicking anywhere (directory, folder, desktop) and spam right click many times does the bug.

Re: FileMenu Tools
This may or may not be a solution here, but I felt compelled to note that, contrary to what is commonly accepted, it is in fact possible to run 32-bit Windows shell extensions under 64-bit Windows:
- - Gasonov.net WOW64Menu purports to do just that (see http://www.gasanov.net/WOW64Menu.asp);
- Running "C:\windows\syswow64\explorer.exe /separate" apparently also works (see http://www.winvistatips.com/threads/165704/).
Re: FileMenu Tools
@Midas
WOW64Menu is really a magical tool- it works perfectly, I installed TUGZip (an old and abandoned x32 archiver) and via WOW64Menu I was able to see its context menu.
By the way WOW64Menu has been reviewed at Freeware Genius.

...I finally made the decision of... convert FMT in shareware. Now you can use FMT free of charge with two limitations: you can't use custom commands and the commands only run with up 20 files/folders. If you want unlock these limitations, then you must purchase a license.
