Topic update: Extra Keys latest is v2.2.2 released 2021-03-04 (announcement at www.deeproot.co.uk/blog/2021/new-versions-of-extra-keys-and-extra-keys-pro/).

The same announcement also says that Extra Keys Pro first released 2014-02-02 and now at v2.2.4 is also freeware (and portable, as settings are saved to 'extrakeyspro.cfg' in program folder), which can be confirmed in the comparison table at www.deeproot.co.uk/extrakeyspro.php.

Extra Keys Pro is the "programmers" edition that includes options to output the characters in several different formats such as HTML entity names or numeric codes. This is especially relevant to web authors or computer programmers.

You beat me to the punch, MIDAS! I looked at the "Other symbols Key Set", and it is exactly what was missing in the non-Pro versions for my work.

Fixed it: for the [img] tag, you need the direct image URL (https://i.imgur.com/pikA44G.jpeg) instead of its page address (https://imgur.com/a/NfHEcRD).

ExtraKeys Pro is now at version 2.2.7. The zip file indicates June 18, 2022 for last changes.
The Readme states version 2.2.6; the .chm helpfile indicates 2.2.7. I cannot find any description of specific changes between the versions.
