Thanks for that. By the way he says that the x64 doesn't work on his machine, it does for me.

BTW, you may want to comment on the previous article on ghacks. Some users reported Swap'em not safe.

It's that time once again where I go through the code optimising and fixing potential bugs that I may have overlooked (though unlikely given the simplicity of the code.)

Review: http://dottech.org/98734/windows-review-swapem/

I just thought I would post this to show tech writers are starting to favour 'Portable' software over installed. I don't know if the con is actually a valid reason.

Works with two files or two folders at a time only. You cannot do name swaps of, say, three files.
And how would you do that? What rule should be applied? It's a non-issue, of course.

There is something I miss, though, in Swap'em (although this would go a little beyond what the app was meant for): the ability to "freeze" file A's name. I'd like file B to have the same name as file A (without the extension, as the 2 files have to be in the same folder). I need this often, to quickly rename a subtitle file to the same name as the movie. Let's call it a "half-swap". :)

And another thing: could someone benefit of a preview-only option? Like...the interface just shows the 2 new reversed names but the swap only happens when the user hits a GO button? Or a simple Preview-only mode? I don't need this myself, but there might be users unsure of the result, that would like this?

For me swapping is between two items not three, that would be Mix'em!

I will look at adding both your suggestions, I would probably add an option for preview mode or something along those lines. About your half-swap, could you provide me a quick before and after so I can see if I understood correctly. Thanks.

Half-swap

Before:
- movie.mkv
- subtitle.srt

After:
- movie.mkv
- movie.srt

2nd dropped file renamed as the first one. The reason would be to auto-load the subtitle in mpc-hc for example.

Preview sounds good to me. There could be a checkbox for the joby_toss 'freeze' feature and perhaps for more.

Interesting GUI design challenge! :)

Thanks joby_toss, will have a look at this on Sunday now.

GUI design is my least favourite part  but I think I will look at re-designing the UI at the same time.
