Thanks, added to the database.

There are two "suggestors": USBman and technicolordreamcoat who both indipendently posted it to the database!

A few months back I went looking for a Floola alternative. There wasn't much but maybe this information will save someone else some time.
  • PodTrans - Looked promising after a successful uniextract but pretty quickly you see that it requires you download drivers from an iTunes setup on a local PC or downloading them. Requires dotNET v4
  • JakPod- Like Floola, an old program that hasn't been updated since 2009. I think it's just for device-to-device transfers. Results were the same as above - it looked very encouraging and this one didn't require any additional downloads, but the tool didn't work.  It just kept prompting me to add files to my local library.
Edit: this was not my first attempt.

I ended up just using VLC for iOS. Thank goodness it supports my old iPod Touch device.
