Re: New TPFC website design by tproli is now live!
Hi, Im back and here to apologize for my earlier comments. The interface I was looking at in Firefox was horrible, so I looked at it through IE and it was totally different. I obviously then cleared my Ffox cache, and it is great.
Yes it is a great improvement on the old site, congratulations and again please accept my apology.

Ahhh, I know what you were seeing; I too saw it briefly the first time visiting the new site, the CSS Styles were not applied and everything was horribly aligned left and quite mangled, I also cleared cache AND cookies to get a fresh start.rogerthedodger wrote:Hi, Im back and here to apologize for my earlier comments. Yes, thats what happens when I put my mouth in action before my brain in gear, and yes it was all aligned on the left, and it took ages to scroll through even 1 application.Ruby wrote:Ahhh, I know what you were seeing; I too saw it briefly the first time visiting the new site, the CSS Styles were not applied and everything was horribly aligned left and quite mangled, I also cleared cache AND cookies to get a fresh start.rogerthedodger wrote:Hi, Im back and here to apologize for my earlier comments. The "link leads to an external website" indicator is in a wrong position if the link wraps to multiple lines.

In addition, in the old site it was possible to get a direct link to a comment (like above) by clicking the user icon. Currently nothing happens when you click the icon. I had to look at the DOM to find the anchor.

Refreshing new look. Still not fond of that visible box around icons and a few other paper cuts, but overall it's a great and well done job -- my warmest thanks to all involved.
Although I find only minimal changes are needed to improving readability and ease of browsing, I'd support that.rhapdog wrote:Would be nice to have a forum theme designed to match the site, as I hate the default phpBB theme, simply because everyone seems to use the default, and I like a site to have its own look.
This is good, there are lots of small screened smart appliances around -- I own a 800x480 UMPC and many smartphones use the same resolution...rodger123 wrote:Good job on the new site-I like the fact it fits in 800x600 screen.
I have strong feelings about this. "Use the standards, Luke!"Ruby wrote:Thanks for your consideration, I would say applying globally via CSS Styles would be better (and probably easier).

I really do find the 'visited' state of hyperlinks most useful/helpful in all my web browsing and strongly recommend a global application.

I suspect a Shift-RELOAD would have fixed the problem just as well.rogerthedodger wrote:Hi, Im back and here to apologize for my earlier comments. From experience, it makes upgrading a pain though, especially major releases where the mainline phpBB makes structural changes to the default template.rhapdog wrote:Would be nice to have a forum theme designed to match the site, as I hate the default phpBB theme, simply because everyone seems to use the default, and I like a site to have its own look.

tproli suspects it's the minified CSS/JS that is causing the problem, and asked me to update the CSS/JS files.I am Bass wrote:IE9 crashes! To replicate, go to www.portablefreeware.com, change to compact view and the display entries number... IE crashes (and no, it's not a browser cache issue).
Could you please try again and see if it helps? Especially since both myself and tproli could not replicate the issue.

In the full comments page, not from the dropdown.I still don't see the links...
Re: New TPFC website design by tproli is now live!
Changed:
- visited state of hyperlinks (gray)
- offsite links should appear properly after the link even in case of multiline links
- entry detail page, screenshot: height is cut at 150px, click to toggle full height
- "What's new" field height increased on Edit entry page
- site min-width reduced to 780 pixels, there was 980 or so before - I wonder how it fitted to 800px

@Andrew
I want to open TPFC in only compact view, but it will only open in fullview. Could you make a code in address field to e.g.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?s=cv5-10-25-50-100 or something ?!
