Some programs in that same vein include DropIt or FileBlender (with optional crypto plugin) and both 7-zip and IZArc2Go do pretty well with encryption via drag-and-drop.

Edit: cut my note recommending Drag'n'Crypt. 7-zip is way better.

Likely a false-positive. I'd submit it to https://www.virustotal.com/

For lack of a better alternative, I'm making the present topic the official one for Drag'N'Crypt ULTRA (DNCU; http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1074)...

Since DNCU's homepage (http://dcu.bplaced.net/) is entirely in German, I'm quoting Softpedia here:
DNCU changelog (in German) is available from http://dcu.bplaced.net/history.html.

Download DNCU latest release (currently v2.3.9) from http://dcu.bplaced.net/download.html.

hi
the homepage is only in german , sadly i can't understand why the developer don't use 256-bit AES encryption

Thanks for doing that.

Twofish is more than adequate security, but I would avoid Drag N' Crypt due to dramatically better options that are open, actively developed, and don't have file size limitations (as detailed in the official entry: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1074).

Are you saying you use TrueCrypt?

TrueCrypt is dead and has been for over 2½ years: it lives on in the "reincarnated" form/fork of VeraCrypt.
Hi Orca
yes i use veracrypt now , even i found slower to mount a partition or a file container compared to truecrypt (yes no more update but i guess good enough to encrypt a data partition or file container)
thanks Orca

I use and frequently recommend 7zip.

It has known weaknesses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrueCrypt ... y_concerns, but the program still provides more than adequate security for most users. Certainly VeraCrypt shores up a lot of these issues, but I'd trust TrueCrypt over many similar options, especially on older systems where VeraCrypt may not function.
