RPGui

#1 Post by Firewrath »

An awesome little RPG chat / tabletop program,
from what testing i did i didnt notice any system or registry changes,
(using JPE for that ofcourse)

check it here:
http://www.togamario.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=68

Theres no real description for it, other then its a chat program, one person host and is the DM the rest join and are the players,
it has a cool HTML based engine and a 'table' for maps and token movement (very handy),

I got a hold of him not too long ago and he said he would look into updating a few things, but im not sure how far along that is,
(Nothing bug wise, just a few new features and such)

but id like to get it out to everyone and i know a few people around here might be interested in it, ^-^

This actually sounds pretty interesting. Put on me bedsheet cape and whip out my cardboard broadsword and we'll have ourselves a party!

The link you provided hinted that the program is "short on some features" and I was curious as to what this meant. I'm sure the program functions or you'd have not posted it, but are most of the key features in place and functional or is it more of a barebones framework at this point?

geez, its only a couple megs, download it and find out, ;)

nah, :P
everything on this list is in there and working from what ive seen of it,
so idk what features are missing,
i mean, you have a chat, dice, and a map with tokens, what more do you need? :P
(besides the stuff i asked for below, ;))

i asked him to add a way for players to change thier text color to keep them separate, to be able to add mods (+1 / -1) to dice rolls, and a '/me' command so you can do in character actions w/o going like:
*does stuff.*
itd look like:
Firewrath does stuff.

And, to backup the logs for like up to a week,
because asis right now, if you DC and dont backup the log before reconnecting, it over writes the log,

he said he'd look into adding it, but he was a little busy at the time, then Christmas and New Years, etc, so i dont expect a new release 'soon', :P
though i can hope, ;)

Unfortunately, my DM is behind some kind of messed up ISP firewall and cant host games,
well, he can, just no one can join them, =/
and only the 'Host' can DM, so yeah, little SoL there,
told Toga about that too, so hopefully he can make like a DM client and player host or something like that,
(i Love the HTML engine its based on though, would love to know how he did it)

but Yeah, it works as is and rather nicely,
though, Fluff,
with your ...outfit,
im glad its an Online tabletop, :P

Don't patronize me, kobold!

Sounds promising. Perhaps you could ask him to implement UPnP support to resolve possible router/firewall issues? I'll take a look at the app, though I think I might have to make another category for it.

[EDIT] Added, thanks! I'll undoubtedly be showing this off to my brother as well, as his DnD group is in shambles due to scheduling issues. I'm sure this would make things much easier. And I know the DM will be delighted with this lil fella. And by the way, I left you a present in the screenshot. :D

Old thread update:

* This got added to the database: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1397
* The website is offline, moved, and evidently went open source: http://blog.mowyourlawn.com/?p=196

The project doesn't appear to be active so I'm not going to mess around with the entry, but just in case someone floats across this topic in the future.
