Manga Meeya - comics reader [discontinued]

#1 Post by Andrew Lee »

Just posted Manga Meeya to the database.

Synopsis:
Manga Meeya is a comic/manga reading tool. It supports very fast viewing, numerous archive formats (RAR, ZIP, CBZ, CBR) and recursive archive traversal (ZIP within ZIP, RAR with ZIP etc). Everything is customizable, including menus, keyboard shortcuts etc. You can explore in thumbnail mode, and optional flip animation gives additional realism when browsing. The application is originally in Japanese (hence it supports Japanese style right-to-left reading), but has been translated to English by fans.

If you like this, please add it to your favorites!

Alert user "theaccoountant" noted a new version with some dramatically new benefits, especially the ease of reading PDF docs, which has wide appeal past manga/comics. However, with the new version jump, I'd usually recommend retesting for portability. However, the page points out that settings are saved in a local INI file:

"If you want to use the previous hotkey bindings, simply import your .ini setting file into the new folder"

... so it may well be that the new version number is just to reflect that it works with Win7 and not because of any dramatic changes in the underpinning of the program (that might include writing to the registry).

Old topic update: As noted by juverax (www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1533#comment31427) the original program domain (FYI, www[dot]mydailymanga[dot]com) has expired; an empty Github repo (last updated 2020-07-01!) exists at https://github.com/leopck/MangaMeeya. Ghacks.net noticed this long ago and put up a backup:
Update: MangaMeeya is no longer available. [...] We have uploaded the latest version of MangaMeeya to our own server however. Please note that we don't support it in any way, and have only uploaded it for archiving purposes. You can download MangaMeeya with a click on the following link...

So juverax noted in the entry that the download for this is offline, and I can confirm that. A few quick notes on this ...

I prefer archive.org links for several reasons, so I've swapped with this:
