j.a.n.e just another nasty editor

#1 Post by I am Baas »

j.a.n.e... just another nasty editor, designed to view and edit all kind of ascii files.

Writes settings to an ini file in the application folder. Freeware for personal use.

Download the .exe bundel @ http://www.kifoth.de/jane/html/download ... wnload=138

Please tell if it runs on Vista / 7

Also, you can find a few more tools listed on this page, but I haven't checked for portability yet. Here's a teaser

* binaryclokk - displaying the local time/date as binary data.
Image

* RekSFV - checks folders with .sfv/.md5/.sha1 files recursively.
Image

edit: RekSFV is @ V1.5.7 (23.01.2011)

* .nG! - an nfo file generator.
Image

edit: .nG! is @V1.0.2 (23.11.2010)

* CDCreator - creates directories with many folders inside that fit exactly on CD/DVD afterwards.
Image

edit: CD/DVD/BR Compiler is @V1.0.0 (23.11.2010)

* CD/DVD/BR Compiler (has more settings than the "original" creator)
Image

* ClrPckr - picks a color from screen.

jane v1.63 released on 23.01.2011:

* bugfix
+ feature / function added
- feature / function removed
# change, addition or removal, requested by user(s)
! special information, which doesn't fit to */+/-/#

! deleting filetypes from the "additional options" tabs will set the last item active (if any), so deleting filetypes is smarter now.
! a small optimization for multiline urls again.
* toggling "Try To Open URL's In The Background" and "Autoclose jane When An URL Was Clicked" disables the other option.
* not properly detecting ie as default browser on server systems, and the option "try to open in background" is not disabled anymore when ie isn't the default browser.
* searchqueries containing special characters like space, %, ~ etc. pp need to be edited into %20 etc. before sending.
- reported by Göran.
+ you can now insert the multipleclipboard content into the search and replace form.
# additional entry "Follow URL" in context menu, will be enabled when the mouse is over the url. auto close url will be ignored in this case.
# when using www.search.1st and 2nd will not close jane even if this option is turned on.
- requested by Göran.
! auto close/open url in background option are no longer locked due to the request above.
# www.search.1st/2nd can now be configured separately to replace some "special chars" like space to %20 and additionally replace your set of chars with a new char (like dots or spaces to +).
- requested by Göran.
! even detecting multiline when the first line is shorter than the other(s) (which isn't quite correct, so this is NOT a bugfix).
* some typos.

j.a.n.e v1.67 is released (23.03.2013):
! "generate string" will remember last selection, so regenerating will be easier when using keyboard instead of mouse.
# new option "Hide On Close, Exit via Menu Only." if checked, jane will minimize on tray.
- no error when trying to save file with -hidden file attribute.
RekSFV is at v1.6.5 (23.03.2013):
*"warning in case filecount of folder is different from checksumfile" will include missing files in output.
* good file count/size was not calculated correctly when doing a recheck in any case.
* changing sha1/md5 checksum files destination when creating them did result in wrong checksum lines.

jane version 1.69 works fine on Windows 8 with one exception- URLs are not displayed properly:
jane - 002 - 2015-11-06.nfo.png
I don't know what is causing this problem.

I followed your advice- I messaged the developer, he was so kind to respond and gave me a clue how to resolve my problem- it seems that the culprit was Terminal font (the default one)- I changed it and now jane works fine on my system:
