MouseClick

Added MouseClick to TPFC @ http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1748

Make your opinion count... vote now!

BTW, the developer have a few more cool portable tools that might be useful to some:

ZenEdit is a minimalistic text editor designed to prevent distractions and focus at the work at hand.

Codex - Keep your code and text snippets organized.

Simple todo- A very simple, minimalistic todo list manager.

Tasks- Focus on one task at a time.

Old topic update: Zenedit page is AWOL... ;)

Latest Wayback Machine viable snapshot (linking package with Zenedit v1.4.5.2): http://v.ht/tym8.

Cheers. Is there a reason though for using a url shortening service? I can understand it somewhat for using it in the PFDB comments due to length and lack of HTML but a full link would be more future-proof, especially on the forum where BBCode is supported. Full URL for posterity ;)

Also the shortened link on the MouseClick page is incorrect (there's an extra 'ip' at the end, which returns a 404). Full link. Edit: I can see why you'd use a shortening service now after commenting on the database entry - PF splits links staring at the 'http' section even if a single url  How I wish one could edit comments.

  • I don't usually do this, even if I rather dislike your observed mangling of anchored links. In the present case this is intended more as a protection against 'link rot', since I fear those WBM links might get removed in a near future.

BTW, thanks for reporting the issue with the MouseClick link; and whenever I feel I really must edit a comment, I copy it, delete it and post it anew with the desired edits... ;)

What is the general advice for adding new download links to entries that are 404'ing? Where should mirrors be uploaded, or is it good enough mentioning archived copies it in the comments?

Atm there are archive.org download links, but unsure if they would normally be added to the main link.

Regarding this, my general tenet is mainly adherence to the KISS principle (Keep It Supremely Simple :)).

On second thought, I would advocate using Webarchive links only as a last resort when no other mirrors are available.

Looks like Softpedia has a mirror, but it's v2.0.1.31. The latest version was v2.0.2.7, found in the archived mirrors.

Still, may update the entry with the Softpedia version.

  • Yep, that happens frequently -- they should have a flagging system in place to prevent it, meaning they should be the ones retrieving Webarchive's latest version to host on their servers, since they're already licensed to... :|
