CybernetNews just reviewed this blogging program written in Python. It's just out of beta (they haven't updated the splash screen or "about" screen to reflect that fact yet).

http://cybernetnews.com/2008/12/04/free ... ve-writer/

Homepage: http://www.zoundryraven.com/
Direct Download: http://www.zoundryraven.com/download/zRaven-1.0.375.exe

The installer includes a checkbox for a portable installation.
Install Raven as a Portable Application on your flash/thumb drive. We'll stay out of your Windows registry and let you take your Blogging on the road.
I can't confirm that it doesn't use the filesystem because it won't run in Sandboxie for me for some reason and that's the only way I know how to do that; however, it didn't write anything to the registry under RegFromApp.

Other than the fact that it tends to hang when pulling data from my set-up-but-basically-unused, 1&1-hosted WordPress blog (which may be 1&1's fault), it seems like an excellent piece of software. The CybernetNews review can tell you more than I could.

Synopsis:
Zoundry Raven is our next generation WYSIWYG blog editor that makes posting to your blogs easier and faster. It's as easy to use as a word processor, plus we include simple tools to add links, tags, photos, music and video files, and more.
Writes Settings To: Application directory

How to extract: Run the installer and select "Install Raven as a Portable Application (Raven2Go).

Stealth: I think so?

Unicode support: ?

License: Freeware. I can't find an EULA anywhere, but nor do I see any indication that the source code has been released.

System Requirements: Win2k/WinXP/WinVista? (tested on Vista, don't know if it'll run on 9.x)

The portable version (Raven2Go) is obtained by using a check box during the Setup procedure.

It is probably feasible to use UniExtract but using the standard setup is easier.

More details (and the download) are available from ...

Added! http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1944

I suggested it way back when... http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... f=4&t=4095

... right around when they stopped developing it, but over a year before they released the source in the hope that someone would continue development. ;) It often helps to search both with and without spaces, but thanks for reminding me of something I submitted that I could add ;)

@ashghost
Sorry about that but as I've stated before, PFC's search algorithm is such total crap that it's not worth using!

Settings are saved in program's folder, but an empty folder is created in AppData: "Zoundry\Zoundry Raven".
