Got the following message while extracting Skype Portablev7.0.0.102 in Win7Pro64 according to the instructions here:
"The downloaded copy of Skype is not valid and can not be installed. Please try installing again."
Please help. Thanks.
Skype not installing
Re: Skype not installing
I can't even download the installer, so I think it's a problem with Skype itself or its website, not with Skype Portable. Anyway, you could get more answers in PortableApps forums: http://portableapps.com/node/42358 or http://portableapps.com/node/43096
Re: Skype not installing
Skype Portable works fine here.
Based on this comment, the most likely explanation is that you are in a country with a customized version of Skype. (That customization most likely means that it's easier to spy what you do. )
Another possibility is an unreliable Internet connection.
It is also possible that a man in the middle is modifying Skype installers you get: http://www.leviathansecurity.com/blog/t ... -binaries/

Re: Skype not installing
Finally, I was able to download the installer and Skype Portable could finalize the installation process. Most likely it was a problem with the downloaded file (incomplete).
Re: Skype not installing
I am happy to report that I could install Skype Portable today. So apparently, it was an M$ issue. Thanks for the support though. Portable apps truly rock, and portablefreeware is one of the sites that I love visiting.
I can walk miles to grab a portable freeware!!!
