Added a note about films because I watched that Sintel short film created with Blender, which was in some areas even better than the work Pixar and Dreamworks are putting out commercially.

@vmars316 - I checked and OBS Studio is QT-based rather than Electron-based (though a different project called Streamlabs OBS is). I've updated the entry.

Yucca on 2019-06-12 11:35

As of June 12, OBS version 23.2.0 is a release candidate and not the current stable version. The current stable version is 23.1.0. If you post a release candidate, that should be stated in the description so users can know what they are downloading.

rb161 on 2020-12-16 23:25

My recently purchased webcam only works with one version of OBS so I'm unable to upgrade to use new features. I have always had problems playing any video except uncompressed and despite being able to play and edit just about any anything in other software on my PC. Other people have complained about the same issue (videos showing as a black screen) for years but the problem is never addressed by the developers. If you can work around issues such as these or are lucky enough not to be plagued by them, then OBS is nice, light software and recording and streaming work well.

ImageCacheViewer v1.31 Updated

Andrew Lee on 7 Mar 2024
  • 103KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Mar 2024
  • Suggested by Checker

ImageCacheViewer scans the cache of your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Pale Moon, SeaMonkey, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Vivaldi and Yandex) and lists the images displayed in the recently visited Web sites. For every cached image file, program displays the URL of the image, browser used, image type, image and browsing date/time and file size. Selecting an image from this list shows the image in the lowe rpane and you can copy the image to the clipboard (Ctrl+M) for pasting elsewhere.

The program is useful for getting around some image protection schemes, web development testing and tracking down a specific image when you're not sure of its associated website.

Note: The author recommends closing all windows of your Web browser before using to ensure that all files are saved to the disk. Additionally, the program won't work if the browser is configured to clear its cache on closing (for privacy or space reasons).

It doesn't seem to work in my case. It only shows some images from Internet Explorer that I don't even use, and nothing from Opera and Edge that I do use.
Furthermore, there's no picture in the bottom pane for the selected row.

WinContig v5.0.2.1 Updated

Andrew Lee on 6 Feb 2024
  • 4MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Feb 2024
  • Suggested by MarcoNovaro

WinContig is an easy-to-use file defragmentation program that allows defrag of parts of the drive. This is useful for squeezing extra performance out of important or frequently used files or programs without wasting time and energy cleaning up the rest of the drive.

Note that this is recommended only on magnetic disks. Flash-based drives (SSDs and thumb drives) don't benefit from defragmentation and such maintenance tools can reduce the life of the drive.

The program engine is based on the standard Microsoft defragmentation API and allows you to group files into profiles, accepting a number of available command-line switches for additional control.
