Many ISPs block SMTP servers so some users won't be able to make this work.

Also, the 10 e-mail limit is a GOOD thing to prevent spam.

mozkill on 2009-02-13 13:50

This program is ok but I think "Hamster" is a much better free SMTP server.

Nothing to see here. There are far better, completely freeware text editors out there. First that comes to mind is Notepad++, which also has its own plugin system.

shnbwmn on 2015-12-06 12:06

For those of you that want something even better, there's Atom, from the developers behind Github. Portable, modern interface, and fully extensible. I don't think you can ask for better.

Oustanding idea but how about a mode that scrolls text like a movie scrolls text? Why doesn't it have that? The text-replacing line roll thing is just odd.

For every file you open, it creates a hidden .rtainfo file in the same folder. And I thought Picasa was bad.

fullbug on 2015-01-11 15:45

Yeas, my mistake, was referring to Minibin, oops....

shnbwmn on 2016-03-16 06:43

If you just want the recycle bin in the systray area on your main PC, then another way is to add it via quick launch. Right-click taskbar, toolbars, add ... %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch ... Unlock taskbar, untick show text/titles, tick large icons under view, lock taskbar. You can now drag items to this and they'll be added to the RB; right-click lets you empty it, and of course clicking it will open it.

Then you're free to remove that damned icon from the desktop. I know this isn't portable and of course it doesn't have the extra functions, but again, this is just if you want it in your tray on your main PC.

FreeMat is an interpreted, matrix-oriented development environment for engineering and scientific
applications, similar to the commercial(expensive)package: MATLAB.

There are free clones of MATLAB available (totally legal and free) and can be downloaded from the web,
one of my favorites are FreeMat.
FreeMat is a free open source numerical computing environment and programming language,
similar to MATLAB and GNU Octave, is available for multiple operating systems, Windows, Linux and Mac
An advantage of Freemat is the convenient mechanism of loading shared libraries written by other
language (it features a codeless interface to external C, C++, and Fortran code)

Tested and I won't keep it, so here is my mini-review, some info for others to decide if it fits their uses.

1. "Dirty" portable installation : Install > Tools > Copy to flash drive > Uninstall, leaves many traces to hunt for and manually delete.

2. Free version much too much crippled for my use. Can't publish to eBook, can't export TOC, so can't use to publish anything outside of the program. Word and HTML export don't preserve internal links and can't be easily navigated.

Sad, because it offers by far the best text formatting I've found (images, tables, links, styles, etc.).

Not a bad product for sure, and respect to the programmer for offering a free version, but if you search for a "simple but just enough options" programs to write and publish lesson notes for your students, just know that you'll have to pay to make it usable / useful.

I'll keep searching, having abandoned EssentialPIMFree (not enough formatting options) and Precision Helper (no more developed since ages). Of course, YMMV, IMHO, etc. ;-)

Have a nice day!
