SpyMe Tools help detect changes to the filesystem and registry by taking "before" and "after" snapshots of the system. The content of these snapshots can be visually displayed or two of them can be compared for differences to determine changes. SpyMe Tools also includes a real-time registry monitor that you can use to determine the registry access characteristics of any application.

@papoo: Software that can be used in legitimate applications can also be used in malware. This is why the author of the madCHook.dll stopped making it available to anyone:
http://www.madshi.net/madCodeHookDescription.htm
it's a hidden spyware in a spyware software detection????
"madchook.dll is a library file that is responsible for implementing main parasite functions and running its destructive payload. The madchook.dll file cannot run by itself and therefore needs to be loaded with the help of some executable files. However, certain parasites reconfigures the operating system or installs madchook.dll as a plugin, so that the system or certain applications automatically load it on startup..."

I gave this app a shot, but I don't think I will be replacing RegShot anytime soon. Problem is SpyMe Tools only work with either the registry or the filesystem at any one time, not both at the same time. In addition, the diff view, though pretty, is not as concise and functional as RegShot's text/HTML output.
SpyMe Tools is still available from http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/Windows-Portable-Applications-Portable-SpyMe-Tools.shtml ...
