Whitenoir converts any image to a strictly two colour monochrome image. Using a really simple user interface it's possible to convert any image in just three mouse clicks. The transformation is totally configurable. You can pick which two colours the resulting image should use and tweak the brightness threshold for the dark and light pixels to make your image more or less dark. You can use Whitenior for creating sharp bitmaps from pencil drawings

I finally got a chance to try this out. It works GREAT for creating two-color imagery. It's a keeper! |
Panchromatic is a very lightweight application which produces a simple monochrome line drawing of any image file. By reducing an image to only a handful of colours Panchromatic can draw lines where any two colours meet.
Line color is customizable as well as the amount of detail captured in the outlines.

Tried it out, but was not impressed. Already had another free program called "Instant Photo Sketch" and its by far much better than this.

I am unsure if all would consider it portable, but this application is no longer stealth. The following folder/file are created each time the application is run:

@DavesNotHere: After the extraction of the installer, you have to create a file named "portable" or "portable.txt" in the app folder.

I created the zero-byte file "portable" in the app folder and voila! It is portable and stealth. Thanks! I don't know how I missed that step. |

WinSplit Revolution allows you to easily organize windows by tiling, resizing and positioning them to make the best use of your desktop real estate. The program is especially useful for larger resolution screens by helping you efficiently manage multiple active windows. The program allows users to move windows and have them snap into pre-defined areas such as 1/2 or 1/4 of the screen using simple keyboard hotkeys.
Functional on 64-bit.
Note that the program is no longer in development -- linking to archive.org and softpedia mirrors.

Although the method of creating a predefined area is very good, I prefer the usability of Gridmove (mainly the mouse control with trigger locations) I think that either the author of winsplit needs to try adding mouse control, like gridmove, or the author of gridmove needs to make the creation of grids simpler, like winsplit.

After using the various tools in Win 7 that handle window position, I got very homesick for this great tool. Even better, it works right alongside Win 7's tool set. Awesome. |
Minime is a tool that allows you to minimize applications to the system tray using a customizable hotkey (by default CTRL+ALT+Z). What makes this tool somewhat unique is that it keeps your system tray clean by minimizing all applications into a single tray icon. Minime-ized applications do not appear in the Alt+Tab menu.
Functional in 64-bit. Written using AutoIt.

If the icon disappears (this *occasionally* happens when Explorer acts up in Win7x64) don't run Task Manager and End Task. Your hidden windows will not return. The trick is to RE-RUN Minime and, when prompted, click "OK".

Privacy Mantra keeps your computer clean from online and offline information. The program removes the list of web sites visited in the undeletable index.dat file, even after the Internet history and cache has been removed, as well as information of executables you run, movies watched, and documents opened. This program helps address many possible privacy violations that can’t be deleted manually as they are locked by the operating system.
Supports 32 and 64-bit.

Haven't run the application yet but it looks like a good addition. Love the documentation on the site where the author details *exactly* what's cleaned out. It's rare to see that level of documentation and it's appreciated. |
FileVerifier++ checks and compares files to see if they have been modified. Supports drag-and-drop, recursive directory processing, patterns, color coding, export to a variety of hashing formats (.sfv, .md5, .csv, etc.) and more. Can use any of 21 different hashing algorithms such as CRC16 for speed and SHA-512 for security (uses the standard MD5 by default).
The program (ZIP version) will automatically ask to create verification files with relative pathways, which is much more portable.
Win2K users should use an earlier version. A beta 64-bit version is available.

A little intimidating at first, but so far looks like the best file verification tool I've tried yet. Fast, recursive directory verify, open source, relative pathways, and multiple different verification methods? Dream come true for making sure your data hasn't changed or corrupted. Recommend MD5 for general file verification and SHA 256 for security verifications.
