Wesnoth @ v1.12.6 : Maintenance Release
v1.12.5
revering to the version number, that is. (sorry for double-posting)
V1.8.6
btw nowadays wesnoth is at 1.10.- instead of 1.8 so the information is invalid.
V1.8.6
Most portable apps are already portable programs packaged with unnecessary junk files and a splash screen, there's a few exceptions of course.
Maybe it's just me, but i don't like the potableapps packages. I prefer the software to made with the intention of being portable.
Also the interface slows start up time.
To save yourself all of the install/unistall messiness, you could just download the version from PortableApps.com http://portableapps.com/apps/games/wesnoth_portable
just to let you know version 1.8.5 is out

This the best freeware strategy game that I have played. The campaigns are the best part of the game. The music is also great.I would like to thank the developers of this game for creating a wonderful game.
I'm glad that Wesnoth made it to Steam. Hopefully the community will grow and attract more enthusiasts.
On an unrelated note, I still have the Wesnoth 0.8.8 setup file from 2004/05, only 32Mb. A game must be very good if over a decade later it is still endlessly playable :)
