On most cnet download pages, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, there will be a direct download link for the software, avoiding the bundled cnet installer: http://i.imgur.com/xlp0V6M.png That being said, I still prefer other download sources instead of cnet.

From my recent (at least two years) experience with downloading files from CNET: as a rule, they "rebundle" the original files and add annoying-ware, and for some of these add-ons there is no way of avoiding the installation of these unwanted applications and modifications of the user's computer.
This time, I thought that because "portablefreeware" was pointing at cnet, the download would be clean, but I was anyway cautious because of my previous experience with cnet. Unless clear mention that the download is clean, I will avoid cnet for the future.

As of this writing, this application (Flash Movie Player) is hosted at CNET, and what you download is an installer. In order to download the real application you have to go through 5 steps. At step #2, you can select "Custom Install" and this allows you to disallow the installation of "tool bars" and other nuisance. At the next step, you are warned that your registry is going to be modified and cleaned. I could not see any way of disallowing these modifications to my system. Therefore I cancelled the installation - End of the story = Not (longer) portable!
