EjectUSB is a tool for quickly closing apps running from a USB drive and ejecting the drive from safe removal. It will automatically close all programs running from the drive EjectUSB was run from (host drive), close any explorer windows open to the host drive, remove Windows MUI and MRU entries and recent document shortcuts related to the host drive, and attempt to eject the host drive when done. It can also interface with various utilities to aid in drive ejection.

tried it on my portable hd (2tb)
it is ok, but the optimization is lacking; it does some, but not alot
in order to put the portable software first, i put everything else in an 'x' folder and ran the defrag sorting by file/folder...
...then, when the portable apps are in the first position i switched to fill.. but jkdefrag doesnt fill smartly at all, so i switched to mydefrag
... using monthly data defrag and then switching to consolidate i achieved better results... you can do a defrag only alternating with consolidate to get better results
... finally, for a portable hard drive, i recommend defrag only option, as a regular maintenance... in fact, use it as the screen saver, on defrag only, all drives

olliebean on 2018-07-16 09:09

This appears to be defunct. The portable version is no longer available to download from the website, and the website for the newer non-portable version no longer exists. v3.36 is still available from https://filehippo.com/download_mydefrag/4595/.

This particular version of Ethereal created by PacketStuff does not require the pre-installation of any packet capture driver such as WinPCap. However, it does require that you have administrator rights for the PC.

chaneu, some info for you:

PortableFreeware excels in the number of available apps being that it has no input on the application development, it simply catalogues them and will catalogue freeware and open-source without discretion.

PortableApps work on open-source much more and there is a tighter regulation on releases. All apps from PortableApps have a 'app_portable.exe' NSIS script created executable frontloader with instructions for registry handling and application information disposal and being that they are the creators of the released portable versions, they can offer support on any issues of portability.

Although WinPCap is installed on launch of Wireshark Portable, it is uninstalled and cleaned up after the program closes. This is the purpose of the 'app_portable.exe' launcher, made by the PortableApps developers.

I am not a PortableApps developer or even an advocate, I am simply a guy who knows what the hell is going on in the programs I use. If you don't know about portability, don't comment on it.

And further more, stop posting that garbage on any page with 'Wireshark' on it. I don't want to correct every one of your docile assumtions, so stop bad-mouthing a damned good program.

Psytechnic on 2009-12-29 17:32

By the way, Wireshark is a SourceForge project (God bless open-source), so the best place to get updates and so forth at any time is at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/wireshark/files/
Look for the one named 'WiresharkPortable-(version).paf.exe'

Paf's are simply 7z self-executing archives of the program folder that have a script in them to look for a PortableApps suite layout on the root of all drives to set the extract location. This is not a requirement as the program folder is completely portable and can be extracted anywhere. Use the 'wireshark_portable.exe' from the program folder to launch.

This could be a nice 'Pendrive Menu' but I've had problems with lost menu data.
Also, it would be nice if, when set up with 2 or 3 different menus, you don't have to jump from the left to the right or top, bottom or the corners, to access a different menu. Perhaps using 'CTRL' or 'ALT' or 'Shift' etc together with the mouse might give the menu a bit more flexibility.

Mainly though, I would say sort out the stability problem of lost info.

Mooncrow on 2011-08-19 17:44

Oh, just another thing.
When you try to get to the 'Hidden Menu Homepage' from the 'Info' tab within the program, you get a web site, [http://home.i-cable.com/lokinwai/], which seems to be Chinese.
