Who makes this? This is a standard plugin for any self respecting image editing program. Who needs it?

FotoSketcher would be a better choice. It's free, standalone, portable, have batch processing as well, and the results are actually really good. You can also choose color pencils, oil, etc. |

Additional note: the program appears to freeze when asked to scan directories with more than around 100 gigs of music.

I was one of the many people begging for Songbird Portable back when it was just a "hatchling". I believe it took 1-2 years before an official portable version was made -- by that time Foobar2000 became my inseparable best mate. Sure Songbird is the new kid on the block and Speed, memory and no itunes support will probably be it's Achilles heal, but it has a lot of potential through add-ons and it's web support.

As I dislike PA.com launchers myself, I went looking around for alternatives and found SongChick (for more info, see http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=60297#p60297). |

One of the best image editors. Amazing that it has layers and it loads so fast unlike paint.net. |

quote @tc: You can stop the intro photo by editing photoscape.cfg, and turning intro.photoOn from on to off. You could also edit the url, to point to a local image

Although I've moved over to freeware options for most things I do, I've maintained use of Microsoft Photo Manager for years when working on my own photo collection. Today however, I was on a machine without it so I got PhotoScape up and found I actually prefer it.

Every few months I discover something new and cool with this program. Animated GIF tricks, photo edit functions, framing tricks, and photo collages. Today it was dragging and dropping an image onto the program icon and seeing the wealth of edition, annotation, and symbol tools available. |

Looking at it it just enlarges the image then denoises it which makes it look blurry. Similar effect can be achieved using Paint.NET to enlarge the area then denoise it. |
InstantMark lets you crop out the subject in a photo and removes the background automatically. You use a "keep" marker to outline the subject, and a "remove" marker to outline the area around the subject (the background). Then click on the "Preview" button to see the result immediately.

I just tried this program, It HORRIBLE! The brush size is very large, unlike the picture in their screen shot, and there is no "Process" to finish it off. You have to preview and then save. I tried four times, and each time it was horrible. I have Photoshop, but wanted this for some people I know who dont have photoshop and thought this might be the answer. I wont even tell them about this.

Loner Gimp has this feature as well as being able to load some photoshop plugins it can use the wonderful free GML Growcut and Growcut mask. The original site doesn't offer it anymore but can be found with a quick search.

Works best (as you might imagine) if there's a dramatic color difference from the background and the foreground item. I spent a lot of time trying to get an image lit with mostly browns separate from the area behind it. There's no undo funtion if one of your lines gets too close -- you must reload the image. Even when it works well, its still a quick and dirty solution: images I tested always had rough edges I'd want to hand off to GIMP to clean up. Note that this can really look interesting if you cover the image with both various red and green dots: it gives it a cut-out / broken glass look that I actually found to be a really interesting effect. |
MobaPhoto comes with four modules: batch photo resizer, digital gallery creator, batch picture editor and batch picture renamer. It allows you to create photo galleries for your website. It also allows you to process your images (resize, crop, red-eye correction, rename etc.) in batch mode.

A fairly basic processing tool, the very slick gallery creation tool is the real gem in this program. The only setback for this program is competition: many other tools on the site do batch conversion, renaming, and other functions better than MobaPhoto (among them Photoscape and FastStone Image Viewer). Still, the program has a great interface, is good for basic photography work, and very easy to use. |
