This program is now called FCEUX, and version is at 2.1.4a (older version still available on website).

"The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCEU Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, FCEUXDSP CE, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU."

http://fceux.com/web/home.html

Not sure about portability though...

For those of us who check these pages every day to see whats new, this program isn't categorized but from what I've read, I "assume" its a game. The description is very vague to those of us uninitiated.

thepiney on 2012-04-19 22:24

It's really not a game but an emulator similar to Mame and others. You add ROM files and you can play older games on your PC. In this case it's an emulator for NES and Famicom based games.

Long story short, there's no better SNES emulator out there.

hepsit on 2007-09-20 07:21

it's a good emulator, but in order to use online you need to have another program, i like the older one v1.42 better

Jonathan on 2007-12-17 11:44

@hepsit: that is not true, it has full online capability without the need for any other program. it supports up to 4 players via UDP/TCP host and client using IP addresses on a lan or the internet. you would only need "another program" if you want a program that automatically searches for anonymous players, but wouldn't you rather play with friends anyway?

I would have much rather seen the original back. this one is too "pokemon" and you can never beat the original weapons of games like these.

Smackbringer on 2009-06-11 12:42

Hey guys, if the game doesn't work for you, make sure you've downloaded Microsoft's C++ Redistributable 2005. Its a free download off of Microsoft's website. It fixes most install issues.

This game works on Linux also despite the author's insistence to the contrary. Install wine then double click the installer. Remember where the game is installed. Now install ags and patches.pat for Linux from http://drevil.warpcore.org/ags/ . The author creates AGS 2.72 or later only for ubuntu from ubuntu.com (though you an try another flavor of Linux if you like). 2.71 or earlier should work with other Linux distros. Copy ags, ags-setup, and patches.pat to the directory where KQ2+ is installed. Now drag the KQ2VGA.exe using Ctrl+Shift and drop it in the same folder. This creates a symbolic link. Rename the link to ac2game.dat. run ags-setup in the directory, save your options (fullscreen is fastest and stablest if your system will run it so), exit ags-setup. Run ags in the directory. Enjoy KQ2+.

Bontãgo v1.1 Private

  • Suggested by PowerCat

Bontãgo is a single or multi-player 3D real-time strategy game. Players begin with flags (one color for each player) spaced evenly around the edge of a large disk, called the field, balanced on a fulcrum in the center. Around each flag is a circle representing that player's controlled area. Every few seconds a block appears on each player's cursor. The players must place the blocks somewhere in their controlled areas. Players can place the block at any moment in the allotted time, or can hold it until time is up and the block will fall on its own and be replaced by the next block.

Note: DirectX 9.0b is required to play this game.
