I've done this, but I still get the "Register Now" nag. Pressing clears the nag, but it's awfully irritating. Is there a way of disabling it?

OK managed to get a register code; use it once and hey presto away you go. BUT the code is written o a local gsview.ini which also incorporates named drive letters. Move your USB stick to another host machine where it will very likely be named differently and gsview.ini is suddenly broken -- you have to supply the reg code again. Very VERY annoying; not true portable freeware, at all ...

Setup is a bit more tricky then running a self-extracting executable, and dumping Ghostscript in the same folder. Here's what I had to do: |
yBook is a document viewer that has both single or dual-page view capability. You "turn" the pages by clicking on them. It supports ASCII, HTML, RTF and PDB/PRC files.

Runs on: | Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 |
Writes settings to: | Application folder |
Unicode support: | No |
License: | Freeware |
How to extract: |
Download the installer and Pendrive Runtimes. Extract both to separate folders and combine the contents of their {app} subfolders. Launch yBook.exe. On first run let the program check for update and download the update file (select "Download only"). Extract the update file located in the main application directory and merge the contents of its {app} subfolder with the main program files. |

There are instructions on my website for putting the vb6 runtimes into the ybook program folder on the memory stick. The only sticking point is the rich text control, which has to be registered with the OS, but that just means you may not be able to open RTF files directly.

Installed this on my portable hard-drive, including the PenDrive runtimes into the default Temp folder inside the yBook folder. It does work on both my office pcs ( XP-Pro SP3, and Win7 Enterprise). |

I could not manage to find the author´s email, so I´d like to post my "thank you" here. Despite being simple enough, it´s a nice app, great job! Exactly what I needed for the moment.

WebSiteZip Packer compiles HTML files into a single file (including all graphics, sounds, linked pages, etc.) with an integrated HTML browser. Ideal for e-books, product catalogs, site demos, manuals, and searchable information distribution.
Sites can be packed into a single EXE or viewed with the included, standalone viewer WSZView.exe for the .WSZ format. Also works as a standard HTML viewer.

Runs on: | Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP |

Stealth: ? | Yes. Both packer and viewer both operates as stealth applications. However, compiled EXE files extract to and operate from the temp folder and may remain there till you clean them. |

Simpo PDF to Text processes PDF to text files individually or in batch. The program can export to DOS/Windows, UNIX, or Mac-compatible text.
Note: Official website has gone crippleware, limiting conversion to two pages at maximum. See forum post for possible workaround if archive.org link doesn't work.

An excellent basic HTML editor for new and intermediate Web page authors. Although the program has a few bugs here and there, it is easily one of the best free (non-text only) Web page editors available. Its cross-platform nature (windows, linux, mac) means you'll be able to edit your files no matter where you are.

FastStone Capture is a powerful, flexible and intuitive screen-capture utility. It allows you to capture anything on the screen including windows, objects, full screen, rectangle regions, freehand-selected regions and scrolling windows/web pages. It has innovative features such as a floating Capture Panel, hotkeys, resizing, cropping, text annotation, printing, e-mailing, screen magnifier and many more.
Reported to function in Windows 7 and in Linux under WINE.
Note: FastStone Capture went payware starting from v5.4 so I have made the last freeware version available (v5.3) for direct download as the license agreement does not prohibit redistribution.

@jimdorey: I'm a little confused why we had a listing that this works with Win10 -- it really doesn't. When this version of the program stopped being developed, Win7 wasn't even out yet. Anyway, I recommend trying another software package for that OS. I've updated the entry.

@jimdorey: v5.3 works fine on my win 10 x64 using a 1080p screen resolution. Maybe you're using a high DPI screen/4k monitor, and only the last version (8.4, payware, but worth every penny) works fine in that case.
