WaveShop v1.0.14.001

Midas on 3 Sep 2019
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 7 Nov 2013
  • Suggested by Taf

WaveShop is a fast and lightweight audio editor, which despite its name supports lots of different audio file formats, including MP3, FLAC, OGG/Vorbis, and AAC/MP4. The program is bit-perfect, meaning uncompressed audio samples aren't altered unless they need to be; editing a portion of an audio file only affects that portion and the rest of the file remains untouched. Cut and pasted audio blocks won't modify their contents. This is especially useful for patching a finished master without corrupting its dither. Other features include unlimited undo, peak and RMS analysis, normalizing, fading, audio generation, and more.

Note that the author recommends running the 64-bit version (if you have 64-bit Windows) as it can load bigger files without running out of memory.

Alternatively, WaveShop Portable automatically switches between 32 & 64-bit and portablizes paths. X-WaveShop is also available.

Runs on:WinXP / Vista / Win7

How to extract: Download the portable ZIP package (32 or 64 bit) and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch WaveShop.exe.

"Copy or move the contents of $INSTDIR to a folder of your choice":
I just extracted using uniextract (2. try: 7zip, same result). There is no $INSTDIR, only $PLUGINSDIR, SOUNDS and files imgburn.exe, imgburnpreview.exe, readme.txt.
I suppose this altogether is equivalent to $INSTDIR ? At least it seems to work and afterwards the ini is 18KiB and it created dir "Log Files".

smaragdus on 2015-04-15 04:09

I confirm that *fang-face* is right- the extraction of the latest version of ImgBurn (2.5.8.0) with Universal Extractor version 1.6.1 or with 7-Zip version 9.20 doesn't create any '$INSTDIR' directory.

"Includes disc testing, verification (that files are exactly the same as those on the disc)"

Re verification: I'm not sure, but I think the program only verifies that the burned content is readable. I don't see the source drive active during this process.

I always verify with WinMerge after burning:

I've been meaning to try this just so I can emulate the AeroSnap feature from Windows 7 on Windows XP.

shnbwmn on 2016-01-08 00:11

This program is amazing. It's the only one I've found so far that actually let's you define a GRID as opposed to merely snapping windows to borders or resizing windows in increments.

freakazoid on 2016-05-11 04:27

So I finally had a chance to test this app.

It takes a tiny bit of effort to learn how to set up grids, but once you have them set up, GridMove really sings. Memory usage is around 2.6 MB RAM.

I'm going to use this in place of Sizer.

An excellent and important utility! Using a different (local) text handler for each and every time we input text is a cognetics nightmare which TEA solves quite neatly within our present architecture.
Note: This utility uses the clipboard to move the completed file back to the original location. Anything already on the clipboard is lost in the process.

webfork on 2016-05-29 02:39

This is a great program. When I was using multiple editors to get the best of each (NotePad++, LibreOffice, and Dreamweaver), I used this frequently. Also works well with gpg4usb.

FileHandler on 2018-06-02 03:07

It works well as long as you stick to editing your text and refrain from switching to various other apps - to research something for your text etc.

It seems to rely on Alt-Tabbing back to the previously used window to transport your edited text back to where it belongs. This will only work if you had not switched to other programs in the meantime.

    check url() elements within <STYLE>...</STYLE>
    check url() element within STYLE=
  • parse css files similar to <STYLE>...</STYLE>
Minor improvements:

  • url property dialog now resizeable
  • mailto with empty rest => "mailto:", not "mailto:@".
  • mailto:name%40host.com => mailto:name@host.com
  • all mailto: URLs of a host with successful DNS lookup are set to "skip type"
  • dito also for previously failed mailto: URLs of that successful looked up host
  • light green color for "mail host ok", which replaces text "skip type" for mailto:
  • renamed "maximum level" to "maximum depth"
  • GraphViz only for "ok" links
Misc:

Cool program, ugly though. In case you haven't figured out (it took me a while), the textured bar to the left of the text area is what you grab to move the window.

Every other device (Android, iOS, Mac, etc.) that doesn't have this format calculator just drives me crazy. Writing out the whole problem before calculating is so much better than a single window, single-output view.
