Is the description of "How to extract" still valid? I ask because a lot has changed with the structure of directories and files.

Andrew Lee on 2023-06-02 09:04

@dmocha: I just downloaded the ZIP file for v9.0.1, and it seems the file/dir structure is still pretty much the same, so the extraction instruction should still be valid. Could you provide details on the diffs that you are seeing?

dmocha on 2023-06-04 08:20

@Andrew Lee: I have no objections. I'm just asking. I remember that quite a long time ago new folders and files arrived, and the procedure is still the same. That's why I'm wondering if it's up to date with these files.
I still follow this procedure and still use the portable version.

Baas: no prob, thanks for direct-linking the 32 and 64-bit versions. Adding a notice about the adware version.

TP109 on 2014-09-05 05:39

In spite of the adware issues, I think this is the easiest-to-use and to setup CPU temperature application. It's on all my PCs and I've never had a problem with it. Just set it and forget it. The digital temperature display in the system tray is very visible and useful when resource-heavy apps are running. I'm surprised this isn't rated higher.

This program worked beautifully in testing an old external hard drive that was behaving strangely. Instead of relegating it to a secondary backup drive, it now looks to have plenty of life left.

  • 70KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 18 Jun 2016
  • Suggested by I am Baas

DiskSmartView is a small utility that retrieves useful insights on the health of your drives. The program uses standard diagnostic data from the "S.M.A.R.T," or Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology data drawn from IDE/SATA disks. This includes the model/firmware/serial number, cylinders/heads, power-on hours (POH), internal temperature, disk errors rate, and more.

This data can help you determine if there are any significant problems with your drive and whether it may be nearing end-of-life.

Real Temp v3.70

lwc on 7 Aug 2021
  • 721KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 16 Jan 2012
  • Suggested by guinness

Real Temp is a monitoring program designed to see the temperature of all Intel "Core" processors including Core 1, 2, i3, i5, and i7 processors. Each core has a digital thermal sensor (DTS) that reports data relative to the safe maximum operating temperature, known as "TjMax". As your CPU heats up, your "Distance to TjMax" will decrease.

As these processors will start to throttle or slow down as they approach their maximum temperature, it's possible to have a computer that slows down dramatically. To increase speed and reliability, a good TjMax distance is ideal.

The program also supports full logging, temperature alarms and shutdown, and the ability to calibrate for each core of your CPU.
